One of my theater students linked me to this site. As she said to me, and it goes without saying, it's beyond disgusting, especially in light of recent horrific events. What more can I say...

There is a negroe boy in my science class, and my Science teacher has assigned me to be his lab partner... I've tried to speak with my Teacher but he says he must I must go with him...

What should I do, this angers me very much... I dont want my mark going down at all because of this Negroe! Hmmm...

As a fellow student, you just have to deal with it. When I am assigned with "other" people I simply do all the work, tell the teacher they didn't do anything, and move on. Don't expect "them" to help you, so just do the work and ignore them as best you can. Otherwise it's you on the line, and a useless trip to ISS if you keep pressing the issue. Trust me.

I can sympathize. Being good in school, I was often paired with morons. Ugh. Some teachers have this bizarre idea in their heads that pairing a smart or hardworking kid with a loser will increase the loser's IQ. WRONG. I think it comes with the indoctrination they receive while getting their teaching degrees.

Republican Steve King to introduce “Victory in Iraq” resolution

The Washington Times reports that on Wednesday, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) will be introducing a “Victory in Iraq” resolution, “chronicling the success of the troop surge in Iraq and warning the new Commander-in-Chief that if he changes strategy, he takes ownership of whatever happens on his watch”:

“Our military has achieved a definable victory, and I want to tell them that America appreciates them,” said Mr. King, who has visited with troops in Iraq six times, most recently in September. “They’ve left a legacy and it’s up to the new leadership to preserve and enhance the victory they’ve achieved.”

King — who once said that Obama would turn America into a “totalitarian dictatorship” — further said that the measure should be seen as “less of a criticism of Mr. Obama and more of an encouragement that he ‘expand on the victory rather than walk away.’” King’s resolution has 30 co-sponsors. He was hoping to get to 100 [...]

It’s not surprising that months after President Bush has left office, King wants to pay him a tribute. After all, in January, King joined a few other Republican lawmakers for a 40-minute tribute to Bush. “I’m here to say thank you to President Bush for the things that he has done when he’s had his steady hand on the till of leadership, and especially with our national defense,” gushed King.

Time to find that fork. I need to stick it in my eye. Now.

Gee, now where in the world did the kiddies pick this little phrase up, hmmm?

Matthew Whoolery told KIKD News he found out about the chanting from his second and third graders, who had no idea what the word "assassinate" meant. [...]

Whoolery, a psychology professor at Brigham Young University in Rexburg, is not an Obama supporter, but he was shocked that any public official would be threatened in that way. "I don't think that the majority of people in Rexburg have extreme ideas like that, but we were just surprised that it would go that far," Whoolery told KIKD.

The Madison County School District has sent out an email saying that students are to be told this sort of behavior is unacceptable. [...]

The population of Madison County is not only heavily Republican but also 97.7% white. One of Rexburg's lone Democrats, a professor at the university, told Salon that "she remembers the time when a group of classmates followed her third-grader home, shouting out 'baby-killer' all along the way. She took it up with the teacher, who didn't seem to mind."

Appalled doesn't even begin to say it. They're what, eight?

Per the article, "In the 2004 presidential election, 93 percent of Madison County's votes went to George W. Bush or minor-party conservative candidates -- arguably the reddest result of any county in the entire country."

"Red" doesn't have to mean "bigoted". How sad that they're becoming synonymous.
