Sarah Palin's ghost writer gets another book deal

Paging Flubby McSelfServing's ghost writer. There's been a spill in Aisle 2 at HarperCollins:

Publisher HarperCollins announced Wednesday that the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate is working on a "celebration of American virtues and strengths."

::waving hand wildly:: Ooo! Pick me! I know! I know an American virtue: We didn't elect Flubby!

Her new work will "include selections from classic and contemporary readings that have inspired her, as well as portraits of some of the extraordinary men and women she admires and who embody her love of country, faith, and family," the publisher's statement reads.

"She will also draw from her personal experience to amplify these timely — and timeless_ themes."

But... how can she draw from nothing? Well, she does have a family. And she does belong to the Mutal Admiration Society with her psycho-phant John Ziegler.

[S]he is currently "gathering ideas and identifying favorite texts and examples."

And by that they mean, she is stealing material, copying and pasting, and calling that "penning a book".

I hope this time around, Flubby allows her ghost writer to sub when she quits before completing her book signings.

Report: Sarah Palin's Facebook ghost writers revealed

If this is what Face-y McPayWriters considered an improvement... wow. Seriously, if you're going to shell out money for ghost writers, at least find ones who can make decent points.

The Mudflats has a great post on The Many Faces of Palin's Facebook, but I'll just zero in on:

The ghost-FaceBookers (two of them, anyway) are reported now to be two of the founders of the blog Conservatives4Palin – Rebecca Mansour and Joseph Russo. The blog was based out of state, and filled the dearth of pro-Palin Alaska blogs. Eventually writers for the blog became regular phone-in guests for local conservative radio programs talking about those evil liberal Alaskan bloggers, and how swell Sarah Palin was. Objectively speaking, of course.

Yes, she’s two-”Faced.”

But this whole thing begs another question. She may not be writing the stuff, but does she even read it?

The disclosure of the direct connection between C4P and Sarah Palin is highly embarrassing, because it is now more than obvious that the C4P “Webathon” for the Palin’s “Alaska Fund Trust” was most likely not a grassroots effort, but a coordinated effort with Sarah Palin – who offically has nothing to do at all with her slush-fund called “Alaska Fund Trust”.

"I ghost-wrote letters to the editor for the McCain campaign"

I spent a morning in John McCain's Virginia campaign headquarters ghost-writing letters to the editor for McCain supporters to sign. I even pretended to have a son in Iraq.

I have to leave for work soon, so this may be a lot of copy and pastes:

I volunteer in political campaigns now and then. After a series of outings for Obama and a first mission as a phone banker for John McCain, I returned to McCain's headquarters in Arlington, Va. The offer was too alluring to delay -- they wanted to put me into action as a ghostwriter. Next to commercials and phone banking, writing letters to the editor is the most important method of the McCain campaign to attract voters. At least that is what's written in the guidelines that McCain campaign worker Phil Tuchman presents to me.

Today he is training six ghostwriters [...]

The assignment is simple: We are going to write letters to the editor and we are allowed to make up whatever we want -- as long as it adds to the campaign. After today we are supposed to use our free moments at home to create a flow of fictional fan mail for McCain. "Your letters," says Phil Tuchman, "will be sent to our campaign offices in battle states. Ohio. Pennsylvania. Virginia. New Hampshire. There we'll place them in local newspapers."

Place them? I may be wrong, but I thought that in the USA only a newspaper's editors decided that. [...]

Phil Tuchman has handed out model letters, and talking points and quotes from Sarah Palin's speech.

She goes on to write a very convincing letter.

Phil bends over my computer screen and reads. This takes a while. I am expecting roars of laughter or to be kicked out. Then he says drily: "I like that. It appeals to the hearts of people. Can you write more letters?"
