RedState trying to jam Coakley phone banks

By GottaLaff

http://i.zdnet.com/blogs/dirty-tricks.jpg

UPDATE: Republicans were prosecuted for doing this in 2002. (thanks for tweeting me the link, Bob Cesca)

The antics never end, do they? First Brown files a criminal complaint against the Massachusetts Democrats, then a video surfaces of Brown implying that Obama was born out of wedlock, and now this:
Erick Erickson has posted the addresses of Coakley phone banks at redstate.com. [...]

the comments make various suggestions to show up and disrupt the phone banks. A couple of examples:

Jot down there callback number… put it on autodial…
Reminisce about “the good old days”…
Ask about their grandkids and family and ask if they’re voting for coakley… are any of them in the military? Why not? What’s wrong with that…
when they eventually hang up start calling them back on autodial to talk…

Anyone have access to any robocall setups?
just a thought… Off to conventionland again in AM… Good luck up North next Tuesday-don’t forget to be ready to call shenanigans etc...

and

Post callers numbers so we all can call them back. We can tie them up more!

Please read the whole thing over at Kos.

As I said in my last post, and at the risk of sounding redundant, classy stuff. The question is, what is the Coakley campaign going to do about it?

Law would require pregnancy centers to post signs if they don't offer abortions

Excellent turn of things. I've heard about it happening all over the country, but I know for a fact that local "pregnancy crisis centers" up here open offices close to the Planned Parenthood ones and put misleading ads in papers and the phonebook to trick vulnerable women into having to listen to a religion-centric diatribe over abortion etc. Things these women are not looking to deal with.

Reporting from Baltimore - Crisis pregnancy centers that don't offer abortions or birth-control referrals would have to post notices saying they exclude those options under legislation approved Monday night by the Baltimore City Council.

(snip)

Council President Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, a Democrat who sponsored the bill, called the vote a victory for women's well-being. She cited a study by an advocacy group indicating that women have been misled at pregnancy centers that provide counseling, clothing and food for expectant mothers -- but not abortions.

"It's a step toward making sure that women have the information they need to make the right decision for their health and their future," Rawlings-Blake said.

But those who oppose abortion say the bill unfairly targets centers that provide information and assistance to poor women.

"The thing that's most disappointing about it is not the particular signs that are put up or the particular bill itself, but the message that it sends," said Maryland Right to Life legislative director Jeffrey D. Meister. "This is the first time in the United States that any elected body has chosen to vote to condemn pregnancy centers."
No one's condemning your "centers" hon, just making it illegal for you to lie about them.

GOP turns tables on Democrats, redirects angry calls

By GottaLaff

Earlier today, Paddy posted the DNC video discussed in this post. Now the Rushpublics have pulled a fast one on us:
Republicans played a trick on Democrats today by redirecting angry telephone calls coming into their switchboard to the Democratic National Committee, CNN reports.

Earlier this morning, the DNC released a web video accusing the GOP of inciting mob activity.

"At the end of the video, the DNC instructs people to call the Republican National Committee to express outrage. Callers who dial the RNC's main number to voice their concern about the DNC's charges are told to press 1, which sends them to the DNC's main switchboard."
"Newman!"

UPDATE: I should have said, "Steele!":
I thought it was a good idea,” Steele said. “Don’t sit there and think you’re going to direct a bunch of angry liberals to call the RNC when I know full well what that’s all about. I get the joke. My response was, talk to your own party, because they’re the ones ginning this up.”

Fake Obama robocall making the rounds

By GottaLaff

At 3:45 a.m., a dirty trick hit many sleeping voters. Someone impersonating Obama wakes them up, annoying them of course. I've heard several callers from several states reporting this.

It is not Obama. It's the usual suspects. Heads up, voters.

"Cain't git fooled again."
