VIDEO: Al Gore on "Climate-Gate"

By GottaLaff

It's good to see Al Gore getting out there, debunking the usual myths, addressing the current controversies, and being the voice of reason. His vast knowledge and clear message are a welcome respite from the cacophony that has replaced real (and factual) news.

Note to Sarah Palin and her fellow cave dwellers: Weather is different than climate.

Palin Weighs in on Cap-and-Trade in WaPo Op-Ed, Revealing Her Own Ignorance, Arrogance and Self-Absorption

By GottaLaff

Your Daily Dose of BuzzFlash:

Soon-to-be-ex-Alaska-Governor Sarah Palin just had to get an op-ed article into a national newspaper while she could still conclude her piece with the words "The writer, a Republican, is governor of Alaska."

Her target in today's Washington Post opinion section is the cap-and-trade proposal being debated in Washington. After cashing in to the tune of $200,000 in SarahPAC contributions in the 10 days after announcing her impending resignation, perhaps she's hoping to get some contributions from Big Oil before leaving office July 26? Or maybe she's looking for a lobbying job?

Of course, part of this is simply a continuation of the GOP's effort to distort the debate over climate change in general and President Obama's plan to combat the problem specifically. Remember, we're talking about the party that grossly misquotes the per-person cost of cap-and-trade, multiplying the amount by approximately 30 times, according to Environmental Protection Agency estimates. [...]

It should come as no surprise that that national politician who has the least understanding of the dividing line between public and personal life should jump into the climate debate, with its worldwide implications, just to talk about herself. [...]

Palin clearly sees cap-and-trade as a personal affront to her and to Alaska at large. "Noooo!" I imagine Palin whining. "I want to control the nation's energy supply!!"

Have fun reading the rest.

Dun-dun-dunnn! A defection! Sound the sirens! Release the dogs!
Earlier today, Ben Smith reported that McCain research director-cum-press secretary Brian Rogers will begin working as the research director for Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection.
Well now, isn't that extra crispy terrific! So admirable. So wise. So selfless. I bet the McCainers are proud as they can be of their former colleague!
On the campaign trail, Rogers worked alongside deputy communications director Michael Goldfarb, who responded to today's announcement with poise and professional courtesy. "Everybody knew Rogers was a tree-hugger," Goldfarb noted by email, "but I didn't think he'd take it this far. He's dead to me."

We need 20 of this man:
Seeing a window to pass substantive climate change legislation, Al Gore will be writing a follow up to An Inconvenient Truth called Our Choice, designed to "inspire and rally those ready to fight for solutions that were deemed impossible only a short time ago."

Said Gore in a statement: "Now that the need for urgent action is even clearer with the alarming new findings of the last three years, it is time for a comprehensive global plan that actually solves the climate crisis."
He needs to be nominated for a new post: Secretary of Sustaining Life.
