Was Sanford Hiking Naked?

By GottaLaff

Two words: EEE. UUUU! Let's strip this down to the bare bones: Seems like, er, Mr. Happy was M.I.A. among the, um, bushes:
Palmetto Scoop: "The governor who dropped off the face of the Earth for five days was reportedly found Monday night by his staff hiking along the Appalachain Trail. That explanation of Mark Sanford's disappearance has puzzled many folks in South Carolina and across the country... Well, The Palmetto Scoop have discovered the answer to all the secrecy: the governor may have gone for a naked hike. No, really. An Associated Press article from last week heralded Sunday -- Father's Day -- as 'Naked Hiking Day' on the Appalachian Trail. Yes, Naked Hiking Day."
Really? No, really?? Who knows, but the visual is nauseating. I've heard airing our differences, but this is taking it an inch to far.

Sorry.

UPDATE, via Karen Tumulty on Twitter:
On CNN, GOP consultant Castellanos says of Sanford: "If he was camping, he's going to have to explain where he was setting his tent pole."

IWRC* Palin's 85 days of experience

By GottaLaff

IWRC* is woefully inexperienced. Maybe she should have tried being a community organizer. I hear it looks great on a resume:

Assuming Palin did not routinely bill the state for staying in her own home on weekends and holidays, she would have spent no more than 85 workdays in the state capital over the course of her 19 months in office, even if she traveled nowhere else in Alaska or outside of the state. That compares with 168 days that the Alaska Legislature was in session during the same period.

Some Alaska legislators became so frustrated with Palin’s absence that they took to wearing yellow “Where’s Sarah?” pins.

John Sidney McCain: M.I.A.

By GottaLaff

In case you hadn't heard, J Sid's been ignoring his day job:
How often has John McCain been away from the Senate? Well, let's put it this way: At this point, he has missed more votes than even South Dakota Democrat Tim Johnson, who couldn't work for almost a year after suffering a brain hemorrhage in late 2006.
I guess J Sid doesn't embarrass easily.
CQ Politics says he hasn't voted since April 8.
He's the absentest Senator in all of Senateland.
According to the Washington Post, McCain has missed 367 votes during the 110th Congress, 61.4 percent of those held. Johnson has missed 311 votes, 52 percent of the total.
To be fair, the presidential candidates had the worst records because of all the requisite and very time-consuming campaigning and cat fighting and such. But from what I heard on one of the talk shows today, J Sid wasn't busy with any of that on many of the days he missed. He just didn't show.

The Very Honorable Military Guy was M.I.A.
