First on TVNewser: CNN's Christiane Amanpour is leaving CNN and will become the new anchor of ABC News' "This Week" TVNewser has learned. ABC News staff was informed internally Thursday afternoon.
She will begin with "This Week" in August, and Jake Tapper will fill-in until then. The show will continue to be shot in Washington at the Newseum. There are no staff changes announced at this time.
In the last few weeks, Amanpour had been rumored to be in talks with ABC for the job, and FishbowlDC reported Monday that ABC News had made the long-time CNN host an offer.
