Another Vitter Pill: David Vitter introduces legislation defunding Planned Parenthood

From the guy who alerted us to the GOP's being "scared to death" of President Obama's popularity, and is infamous for a few other things...

Earlier this year, Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), who was named in the DC Madam prostitution scandal, co-sponsored the Marriage Protection Amendment, which would amend the Constitution to declare that marriage “shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman.”

...he force-feeds us yet another Vitter pill:

The Louisiana senator has introduced an amendment to the omnibus spending bill before the Senate to drastically cut funding for family planning programs. Vitter’s amendment states that “none of the funds appropriated under this Act shall be made available to Planned Parenthood for any purpose under title X of the Public Health Service Act.”

Paul Krugman is not happy

Now the centrists have shaved off $86 billion in spending — much of it among the most effective and most needed parts of the plan. In particular, aid to state governments, which are in desperate straits, is both fast — because it prevents spending cuts rather than having to start up new projects — and effective, because it would in fact be spent; plus state and local governments are cutting back on essentials, so the social value of this spending would be high. But in the name of mighty centrism, $40 billion of that aid has been cut out.

My first cut says that the changes to the Senate bill will ensure that we have at least 600,000 fewer Americans employed over the next two years.

Will someone please tell me why the ObamAdministration is not paying close attention to this Nobel Prize winner? There are a kazillion people advising him, but none of them are named Krugman.

The real question now is whether Obama will be able to come back for more once it’s clear that the plan is way inadequate. My guess is no. This is really, really bad.

True to form, the Governator has reduced everything to sag status: His own body, our miserable Kahl-ee-forn-ee-ah economy, schools, health care, and collective morale.
