The other Joe

By GottaLaff

http://www.nndb.com/people/890/000046752/arpaio_underwear.jpg

Sheriff Joe Arpaio is in a class all by himself. Here are three posts that will fill you in on who this guy is:

Sheriff Joe Arpaio Forces Woman to Give Birth While Shackled

VIDEO: Sheriff Joe Arpaio could be next Arizona governor?

Sheriff Arpaio Watch: Activist's Letter of Disgust to Eric Holder's DOJ Investigators

Swell guy, isn't he? What a role model.

I opened my L.A. Times letters to the editor today, and found these:
Re “Crusading sheriff takes on his foes,” Dec. 12

I had to read this article twice.

Arpaio's dubious tactics include ordering investigations of officials in Maricopa County and others simply because they do not agree with his tactics. He shows a lack of respect for federal laws.

I initially thought I was reading the story of a Third World dictator. To my amazement, I learned Arpaio is a sheriff in Arizona.

****
Because it's common knowledge that The Times has strong feelings of sympathy toward the plight of illegal aliens, it comes as no surprise that your recent article covering Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio would portray him in a negative light.

Say what you want about the guy, but I love him. I wish he'd run for president. There must be other people who like him as well, because your article mentioned his reelection victory last year with 55% of the vote in Arizona's most populous county.

If this nation had about 500 more Joe Arpaios, the illegal alien problem, and its associated chaos, would be nonexistent. He's unique among politicians: one of those who refuses to have his better judgment clouded by political correctness and bleeding heart liberalism.

Maybe Lou Dobbs can be his running mate in 2012. They'll have my vote!
Yes, Arpaio/Dobbs, that would work out well.

AUDIO- Lou Dobbs: " I’m reaching out right now to Latino groups"

By GottaLaff

Stop me if you've heard this one before. A racist white guy with shockingly racist white veneers decides to run for office and lies with abandon on a radio show:

Balloon floating must be his new hobby now that he's unemployed. Come to think of it, maybe Balloon Boy's dad can be his running mate.

It gets better:

ThinkProgress spoke with Lisa Navarrete, vice president at the National Council of La Raza, the nation’s largest national Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States. Navarrette said that Dobbs had not yet reached out to the group at all.
It gets even better than that:
At TAPPED, Tim Fernholz notes that a presidential run could backfire on Dobbs:
A Dobbs run would immediately activate Hispanic voters who are predominately Democratic party supporters [...] and, if Dobbs runs, not only will they be weighing all of the issues that are important to all voters, they'll also be facing a candidate whose careless smears of illegal immigrants and embrace of Minutemen groups have made him a symbol of xenophobia. If that doesn't boost turn-out among that community on election day, I don't know what will.
Oh please run, LouLou. Pleeeease?

Lou Dobbs mulling possible run for Senate, White House

By GottaLaff

http://static.crooksandliars.com/files/uploads/2009/07/9097_4068d.jpg

Senator LouLou? President LouLou? Hell nono:
Recently departed CNN anchor Lou Dobbs on Thursday revealed he was mulling a possible run for the Senate or White House. [...]

But Thursday's news nevertheless confirmed a number of his old viewers' suspicions that he might run as a third-party candidate to represent his home state of New Jersey, or that he might be jockeying for an early position in the 2012 presidential contest.
LouLou the Quitter will attract the same 20% or so that Palin does. That would be the loon vote.

As of now, he's preoccupied with that Matthewsian thrill up his leg, saying that he feels "exhilaration at the wide range of choices".

So do we, after a fashion. Why? Because LouLou the Quitter could very well morph into LouLou the Spoiler, further splitting the vote. And that's fine by us.

VIDEO: CNN never "interfered with my editorial judgment"

By GottaLaff

Matt asked LouLou if CNN wanted to secretly "maintain a more liberal stance". Gee, that wasn't biased at all.

For the record, Dobbs says he wouldn't vote for Sarah Palin. I guess he's more mainstream than I thought. Snerk.

Bill O'Reilly Offers Lou Dobbs a "Semi-Regular" Contributor Role

What, he doesn't want him to join the "Stinky and Stale" Tour? And of course, Lou is just thrilled.

Lou Dobbs continued his media rounds tonight with his first TV interview since leaving CNN, on "The O'Reilly Factor." (He'll be talking with TVNewser tomorrow). Dobbs talked about what led to his departure, his coverage of the birther movement, a possible future in politics and the shot fired at his home last month.

(snip)

O'Reilly continued: "Campbell Brown is getting murdered. Larry King has declined, like 80%. Anderson Cooper is getting hammered. So they want more of that? Does that make sense to you?"

The eight minute conversation ended with O'Reilly offering Dobbs a "semi-regular" contributor position for the show. Not bad going from a fourth place cable network, to appearing on the #1 cable news show.

Lou Dobbs to Bill O'Reilly: It's all Obama's fault that I got canned

By GottaLaff

http://www.ohiomm.com/blogs/blog_mass_destruction/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/lou-dobbs.bmp

First Barbie McLipSchmutz kvetches on Oprah, now LouLou pours his heart out to Bill-O (tonight). I guess it's cheaper than paying for professional help.

Bill-O portrayed LouLou as "recently emancipated". I think that more accurately describes Dobbs' audience.

So the big question is, will LouLou segue into politics?

"I'm not going to be coy about this....I'm thinking — my wife and I are thinking about a lot of opportunities. [...] What is immutable here is, I'm going to remain in the public arena."

Nah, that wasn't coy at all.

Instead, Dobbs hinted, it was the arrival of the Obama administration into power that changed the climate and made his brand of advocacy journalism no longer acceptable on the network. [...]

"I discern more of a difference between then, which was under the Bush administration whom I was criticizing, and now, when it is the Obama administration and an entirely different tone was taken," Dobbs responded.

"As soon as the new president came in, and you went after him, not only on illegal immigration, but economic issues...they don't like you anymore," O'Reilly said later.

Awww, nobodys wuvs widdle LouLou any more? Waaah! What's a wacist to do?

Grow up, Lou. Even a 10-year-old is more mature.

CNN Paid Lou Dobbs $8 Million to Quit

Whatever it takes, right?
...[T]he New York Post reports that CNN wanted him gone so badly that it gave him an $8 million severance package. Dobbs "had a year and a half to go on his $12 million contract."
He fits right in with the Wall Street crowd.

John King to replace Lou Dobbs

By GottaLaff

I'm not a big fan of Mr. Dana Bash, but he's a little better than his predecessor. He'll keep doing State of the Union, just by the way:
Heading into the critical 2010 midterm elections, CNN will launch a new weekday political program that will be hosted by award winning correspondent John King. [...]

Early next year, King will move into the 7 p.m. ET time slot that was previously held by longtime CNN anchor Lou Dobbs, who announced Wednesday that he was leaving the network.

"The program will reflect what CNN is all about: straight facts from our anchors and the widest range of opinions from across the political spectrum," Jonathan Klein, president of CNN/U.S., said in the network's statement.

That "straight facts" line? It wasn't exactly a straight fact. We've all seen "The Most Trusted Name in News" drop Rushpublic talking points, including memes emanating from Fox, and fail to challenge misinformation.

What's done is done. Now, how about MSNBC dumping Pat Buchanan?

Buh-bye now.

Original post of the report here, in which I made the obvious assumption that he'd slither over to ClusterFox.

Lou Dobbs to Quit CNN

By GottaLaff

http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2009/11/11/business/12dobbs_inline/articleInline.jpg

What's that ringing I hear? Why, it's ClusterFox calling...

Lou Dobbs, the longtime CNN anchor whose anti-immigration views made him a TV lightning rod, plans to announce Wednesday that he is leaving the network, two network employees said.

A CNN executive confirmed that Mr. Dobbs will announce his resignation plans on his 7 p.m. program. His resignation is effective immediately; tonight’s program will be his last on CNN. His contract was not set to expire until the end of 2011. [...]

The CNN employees said Wednesday that they did not know if Mr. Dobbs was moving to another network.
Of course they didn't... right. But we do.

Oh, and in CNN world, "resignation" means "you're fired".

No mas!

At a luncheon hosted by the Spanish-language paper El Diario La Prensa NY Friday, Geraldo Rivera slammed Lou Dobbs, saying the CNN host is "almost singlehandedly responsible for creating, for being the architect of the young-Latino-as-scapegoat for everything that ails this country."

Lou Dobbs is in deep mierda. Rivera:
"This putrid fog that these hate mongers have created is affecting our children...."
