Earlier I posted about the unspeakable racist, XXX rated contents of e-mails sent by a gubernatorial candidate in New York. Oops, I forgot one tiny detail. He's also a Tea Bagger.

That audible sputtering you hear comes courtesy of indignant Tea Tantrumers whose self-righteous denials have fallen flat. My new nickname for any and all of these fools: Elmer Thudd.

I posted the above story mere minutes ago. It only took that long for another one to come to my attention.

Amid all that protesty spittle flying around all those denials of having spat on Congress members and screaming slurs, carrying racist signs, and sneaking in nasty little coded words and phrases, we get yet another example of why they are laughably-- and cryably-- wrong.

Via a tweet posted on the Twitter page of the Springboro Tea Party:

“Illegals everywhere today! So many spics makes me feel like a speck. Grrr. Wheres my gun!?” said the March 21 posting on the site managed by the group’s founder, Sonny Thomas.

There now, wasn't that Christian of him?

The Twitter posting triggered cancellations by several local and statewide candidates and elected officials scheduled to speak at a Springboro Tea Party rally scheduled for Saturday, April 17, at North Park. However, some officials say this doesn’t tarnish the Tea Party movement as a whole.

Of course it doesn't. It's just one isolated incident. Sure, one of many. Add all those isolated incidents up and what do you get? Why, one might call it a very negative impression of "the Tea Party movement as a whole."

A very deep, dark whole.

The video of Ron Paul war protesters is a little shaky, but at least you get a glimpse.

My dear Twitter pal Tiggrr1 attended the Mesa, Arizona Palin, er, McCain event. That would be the very same event where a heckler got roughed up for practicing free speech.

He e-mailed me with some observations of that, and a couple of other things.

Tiggrr got to the Mesa rally just as the police released the two kids who had been forced out.

He grabbed a quick snapshot (see above) before the crowd started looking, er, askance at him.

He took some video (I'm not sure if I'll be able to get my hands on it), but one included a man with a sign that said, "Pull your head out Sarah". [Added note: Tiggrr tells me that the guy at the beginning of the video was the one holding the sign, including a slash through his McCain picture.]

He also shot some footage of Ron Paul supporters protesting the Afghan war (above).

Other video moments included a few pro-forced pregnancy advocates at a nearby Catholic church.

Tiggrr also encountered some anti-immigration protesters who decided to spontaneously blurt out their feelings to him. They were disappointed with Speaky McHellNo, and were angry that she is backing, as they call it, "pro-immigrant McCain". And he quotes:

"I know that Palin doesn't want these illegals in our country."

That from a man who was carrying a Going Rogue book.

Another said:

"I'm real disappointed they (McCain & Palin) didn't talk about the Mexicans overrunning Arizona."

Tiggrr decided to ask some of the Tea Baggers who they considered to be their Arizona hero. The answers: Pearce, Thomas, Arpaio, and J.D. Hayworth... for standing up to illegal immigration (see top photo)

As Tiggrr tells it, he "has lived in Arizona for 50 years, growing up with Hispanic immigrants in Mesa. There was a farming town in which many immigrant children were born, and are U.S. citizens."

But, he goes on, now these same hard working people are portrayed as "illegals, dope dealers, and gang members by the GOP and the Tea Baggers." He wonders "how many Hispanics have they been around? My guess is they don't see American Hispanics as equals."

As we all know, one of the next big issues pending in Congress is immigration.

It's going to be a very long year.

Obama naming Hispanics to top posts at record pace

Under the radar and unheralded.

MIAMI -- President Barack Obama is on track to name more Hispanics to top posts than any of his predecessors, drawing appointees from a wide range of the nation's Latino communities, including Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans and Colombians.

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is by far Obama's most famous Hispanic appointee. In less than a year in office, the president has also tapped at least 48 other Hispanics to positions senior enough to require Senate confirmation. So far, 35 have been approved.

That compares with a total of 30 approved under Bill Clinton and 34 under George W. Bush during their first 20 months in office, according to U.S. Office of Personnel Management data.

The personnel office does not track appointments of judges or ambassadors. Early indicators suggest Obama is naming many Hispanics to those positions as well, though he has been slow to appoint judges in general.

"He's really captured our trajectory, and the vast, vast array of Latinos that make up our country, whether it's Mexicanos, Puertorriquenos or Dominicanos," said Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, the Cabinet's first Hispanic woman.

Latino voters see universal health care as the top priority

Something that should add some gas to the fire under the Dems butts, but I'm sure they'll screw this up too.

Latino voters in the United States see health care reform as the most important priority for the country and a solid majority expresses support for universal health care that includes a public option.

"Health care reform is now expected by Latinos and [is] very important to them. The issue is on the national agenda and they definitely want to see action on this bill", said associate professor of political science, Matt Barreto of the University of Washington, and a partner in Latino Decisions.

The findings indicate that health care reform is now more important than the economy and immigration for many Latinos: 32% said health care is the most important issue, followed by 27% who said the priority should be the economy. Only 14% mentioned immigration as the top issue and just 8% think the most important issue is the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It is the first time since Latino Decisions began conducting this type of polling that health care has risen to the top of the list. This reflects, according to the experts, a sense of urgency in a community that historically has found access to good health care to be difficult. It also reflects a concern for the larger community: 75% of the sample has insurance and still believe reform is urgent.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio Forces Woman to Give Birth While Shackled

The most recent atrocity committed by the self-proclaimed "America's Toughest Sheriff" involves a woman who was detained while 9-months pregnant. Alma Minerva Chacon's case has been receiving media attention due to the brutality with which she was treated. The very same night of her arrest, Chacon went into labor and found herself afraid and alone, being rushed to a local hospital with her hands and legs chained in shackles.

Once she reached the hospital, nurses repeatedly begged the Sheriff's staff to allow them to unchain the mother, but they refused and Chacon was forced to give birth while still shackled to the bed. At one point, the nurse asked for them to release her so that she could be escorted to the bathroom for a urinalysis, but even that request was denied. But the worst came once Chacon gave birth to her baby girl.

Bill O'Reilly Offers Lou Dobbs a "Semi-Regular" Contributor Role

What, he doesn't want him to join the "Stinky and Stale" Tour? And of course, Lou is just thrilled.

Lou Dobbs continued his media rounds tonight with his first TV interview since leaving CNN, on "The O'Reilly Factor." (He'll be talking with TVNewser tomorrow). Dobbs talked about what led to his departure, his coverage of the birther movement, a possible future in politics and the shot fired at his home last month.

O'Reilly continued: "Campbell Brown is getting murdered. Larry King has declined, like 80%. Anderson Cooper is getting hammered. So they want more of that? Does that make sense to you?"

The eight minute conversation ended with O'Reilly offering Dobbs a "semi-regular" contributor position for the show. Not bad going from a fourth place cable network, to appearing on the #1 cable news show.

Sotomayor To Be 1st Justice Sworn In On TV

This actually surprises me, I thought everything was on the teevee these days.

WASHINGTON -- When Sonia Sotomayor is sworn in Saturday to the Supreme Court, she'll be able to claim two firsts: first Hispanic justice and first high court member to have her oath-taking made available to TV cameras.

Sotomayor, who won a groundbreaking Senate confirmation vote Thursday over intense conservative opposition, will be sworn in twice by Chief Justice John Roberts.

She will repeat one oath as prescribed by the Constitution in a private ceremony at the high court. It will be open only to members of Sotomayor's family. Then, Roberts will administer a second oath, taken by judges, with the new justice's family and friends, and reporters present.

Court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said the ceremony apparently will be the first one open to television cameras in the court's history.

Homeland Security Probes Racist Postings on Newspaper Site

This stuff is just so damn scary.

WASHINGTON The Department of Homeland Security is investigating whether one of its employees used a government e-mail account to post racially insensitive comments on a newspaper Web site in western New York.

The postings were made in late June in a public comments section in the Wayne County Star.

They were in response to an article about U.S. border patrol agents detaining Mexican farmworkers.

The comments were made anonymously, but the newspaper traced them to Internet protocol addresses in the border patrol division of the Department of Homeland Security.

Latino ad targets Limbaugh comments

Oh this is going to chap my sisters butt, but it's effective.

(CNN) — As the Senate Judiciary Committee begins hearings on Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, a Latino group is launching a radio ad in Florida highlighting Republican opposition to the first Hispanic nominee to the high court.

The ad, sponsored by Presente.org and Progressive Change Campaign Committee, features past remarks from conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh declaring Sotomayor a 'racist," and attacks Republican Rep. John Mica of the Florida's 7th Congressional District for not denouncing the remarks.

The group says the ads will target other key congressional districts in the future.

That I find it erm, interesting that both CNN & MSNBC covered President Obama's uber churchy speech at the Hispanic Prayer Breakfast but Fox went with chasing tornados.

Lou Dobbs' Ratings Down, May Be Replaced on HLN

Hate on the streets, not so much appreciated on the airwaves? Anyone else ever get concerned that he was going to pop out his dentures with all that jaw clenching?

The New York Observer's Felix Gillette writes about the decline of Lou Dobbs' ratings on CNN, as he continues "the nightly slicing and dicing of the 44th president's economic policies."

Mr. Dobbs' 7 p.m. program on CNN averaged 657,000 total viewers and 181,000 in the key 25-to-54 demographic — numbers that were down a whopping 29 percent and 27 percent, respectively, versus May of 2008. Along the way, Mr. Dobbs sank into third place in his time slot, trailing Fox News' Shepard Smith by a bundle and MSNBC's Chris Matthews by a sliver. During three out of the first six weeknights in June, Mr. Dobbs' place in the standings sank even lower; he finished fourth in the demo, falling behind HLN's Jane Velez-Mitchell.

Meanwhile Dobbs' 9pmET HLN hour appears to be in jeopardy — Broadcasting & Cable reports HLN "is bringing in a new voice for the 9 p.m. hour...the new personality, likely to be announced this week, is described as someone who is from outside the cable news business, but is well-liked by many and disliked by some."

Just 11% of Republicans are Hispanic or Non-White

Who could have guessed? Via Taegen.

CQ Politics notes a new Gallup survey found that only 11% of Republicans are Hispanics or blacks or members of other races. That compares with 36% of Democrats who are non-white and 27% of independents.
