Jon Stewart will be on Bill O'Reilly's show Wednesday, Thursday
By GottaLaff
Stewart, host of The Daily Show, will be interviewed by Bill O'Reilly at his Fox News studio tomorrow. The chat will air in two parts: tomorrow night and Thursday night. He hasn't been on Bill-O the Clown's show in 6 years. For good reason.
I hope this will be one of those times that Jon Stewart doesn't go all polite and deferential on us. As I recall from Bill-O's visit to The Daily Show, the two get along pretty well.
Here's the 2004 episode, which was benign enough, probably because that was then (The Daily Show was 6 years younger), and besides, Stewart was selling a book at the time and may have wanted to play it safe:

NBC News Files Complaint with White House Over ABC's Access

Wow, this has a really odd feel about it.
TVNewser has learned that NBC News has filed a formal complaint with the White House press office over the distribution of presidential interviews, specifically that several of the most recent broadcast TV interviews have gone to ABC News -- including George Stephanopoulos's interview yesterday and Charlie Gibson's December 15.NBC is reportedly claiming Stephanopoulos' friendship with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has helped land the interviews. But insiders tell us those decisions are generally left to Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

VIDEO: "Butt sniffer" SteeleFail interview with Tea Bagger radio host
By GottaLaff
Via Think Progress:
When Tea Baggers get angry, they get even more vile than usual, and that's sayin' something. Oh, but you already knew that.
As I posted yesterday, Michael Steele stood up ABC News. But there's more! He also blew off conservative Tea Baggy radio personality Dana Loesch, who tweeted her wrath. And in another tweet...
She also gave props to Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill (MO) for keeping her interview, writing, “So out of @clairecmc and @chairmanmsteele , McCaskill is the one who keeps her interview. #steelefail”And how did she get even? Because, as we all know, acceptance isn't the Tea Baggers' strong suit. There were bound to be consequences. And consequences there were!
She interviewed herself... as Steele. And what an interview it was. Loud, strident, mocking... and ruthless. Why, she even shut herself up-- as Steele.
Let's just say Dana's not a big fan.
On the other hand, Michael Steele has become her new imaginary playmate, so maybe there's a reconciliation in their future. After all, she can't fight with her alter ego forever. That can wear a girl/guy out.
More here.

I rest my case
By GottaLaff
I was speaking about that very thing on the Angie Coiro Radio Show last Friday night, in reference to my Teen Idles post.
I rest my case:
"I mentioned that I was in Asia on this trip thinking about the economy, when I sat down for a round of interviews. Not one of them asked me about Asia. Not one of them asked me about the economy. I was asked several times about had I read Sarah Palin's book. (Laughter.) True. But it's an indication of how our political debate doesn't match up with what we need to do and where we need to go."
-- President Obama, quoted by Time, about the American television network correspondents who interviewed him while in Asia.

Cheney Could Not Recall Key Events About His Role in CIA Leak
By GottaLaff
That's just a nibble. Go devour the whole piece here.A month before Valerie Plame Wilson's covert status as a CIA operative was revealed, Vice President Dick Cheney told his then-chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, and his press secretary, Cathie Martin, that Plame Wilson worked at the spy agency.
But according to a 28-page summary of Cheney’s May 8, 2004 interview with the special prosecutor probing the leak, Cheney did not recall having that conversation.
"Cheney has no recollection of Cathie Martin entering his office at some point while Scooter Libby was present and advising both of them that [Plame Wilson] was employed by the CIA," states the interview summary, released late Friday by the FBI after a lengthy court battle between the Bush and Obama administrations and the government watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). [...]
Cheney described the CIA's decision to dispatch Ambassador Wilson to Niger as "amateur-hour" and he disparaged the CIA's handling of Iraq intelligence, which Cheney, Libby and others in the Office of the Vice President pressured agency analysts to manipulate in an attempt to portray Iraq as posing an immediate threat.
Cheney said he could not recall playing any role in the campaign to attack Wilson. But former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan wrote in his memoir, What Happened: Inside The Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception, that the White House’s behind-the-scenes campaign to discredit Wilson heated up in June 2003. “The vice president and Libby were quietly stepping up their efforts to counter the allegations of the anonymous envoy to Niger...," McClellan wrote. [...]
In fact, Cheney stated that he did not recall more than two-dozen key events he was involved in [...]

VIDEO: Jason Leopold's Interview with Ralph Nader: "Only the Rich Can Save Us"
By GottaLaff
My friend Jason Leopold interviewed Ralph Nader a few days ago. You can read the rest of Jason's post over at Truthout:
Ralph Nader will always be remembered by his critics as the man whose bid for the White House in 2000 gave us eight years of George W. Bush. The disdain many liberals have for Nader still runs deep nearly a decade later.I'll give Nader this: He's always up to something (the Energizer Bunny comes to mind), continues to get attention, and manages to stir up emotions, both positive and negative. But there's no denying the positive impact his activism has had on this country over the past half-century. Without Ralph Nader there wouldn't be an Environmental Protection Agency, an Occupational Safety and Health Administration, a Consumer Product Safety Commission, a Safe Drinking Water Act and so on.
