Quote-O'-The-Day: Former FEMA Fool edition

By GottaLaff

Heckuva quote, Mary:

"He was a fool when he stepped off the plane in Louisiana 4½ years ago, and unfortunately for him, he apparently still is."

-- Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), quoted by Politico, on the attempted comeback of former FEMA Director Michael Brown.

Many of us are still trying to figure out why he was allowed back on the Tee Vee Machine in the first place.

Quote-O'-The-Day- "What's to the left of socialists" edition

By GottaLaff

The question isn't whether Steve King is an idiot. It becomes what's to the far far right of idiots:

"The question isn't whether the president is a socialist. It becomes what's to the left of socialists."

-- Rep. Steve King (R-IA), quoted by the Iowa Independent.

Quote-O'-The-Day- Stupak edition

By GottaLaff

Just heard Bart Stupak say this on MSNBC:

"We're well past 216... This bill is gonna go through."

He also said something about having the votes before the deal was struck on abortion.

Now STFU.

Quote-O'-The-Day- Lawrence O'Donnell: "Dems are comfortably beyond 216 votes."

By GottaLaff

http://blog.silive.com/entertainment_impact_tvfilm/2008/11/medium_odonnell.jpg

Via Cody, who saw it live on MSNBC:

Lawrence O'Donnell: "Dems are comfortably beyond 216 votes."

And he's not exactly Mr. Optimist.

Let's hope he's right. It sure feels like he is.

Quote of the Day

"I think this is part of a broader problem with the Obama administration. ... We saw it in Honduras. Where rather than monitoring the situation, they let a cowboy president try to act in an extra-constitutional way to violate a fundamental principle in the Constitution, all without having done their homework in advance,"

- Karl Rove, when asked about Obama's handling of the Biden-Netanyahu row.
I started out bolding the truly heinous parts, but the whole thing is just beyond the pale. Via Sullivan.

Summit VIDEO: Obama v. McCain. Oh snap!

By GottaLaff

I posted about this, and then some, a little earlier. Here's the video:

Hey J-Sid, disrespecting the president won't work. He's smarter and quicker than you are.

Quote-O'-The Day: R-E-S-P-E-C-T edition

By GottaLaff

Paraphrasing (very slightly) something John McCain just said at the Big Health Care Summit about Democrats meeting "behind closed doors" to put a deal together:

"I say 'unsavory deal making' with respect."

How does one say that "with respect"?

And how does one respect a guy who chose Palin as a running mate?

Bonus quote, Prez O to J-Sid:

"We're not campaigning any more. The election's over."

Respect that, J-Sid.

Quote-O'-The Day: Harry Reid's corpse edition

By GottaLaff

Via Greg Sargent:

“Reid is hampered by Durbin and Schumer picking over his corpse right now — it’s really ugly.”

--A senior Democratic aide to Jay Newton-Small regarding Harry Reid being constrained on the jobs bill by the battle between Dick Durbin and Chuck Schumer to succeed him as Majority Leader.

Okay, ew.

Quote-O'-The Day: Reid/McDonnell Snow Angels edition

By GottaLaff

This just popped out of Prez O's mouth as he talked to the press about a bipartisan meeting on jobs:

"McConnell and Reid are out doing snow angels on the White House lawn."

Quote-O'-The Day: Nate Silver Zings Palin edition

By GottaLaff

There's more to this quote than the following excerpt, but this was the money line:

[C]all me a hater, but the woman just ain't that bright."

--Nate Silver dicussing Sarah Palin

What's that under President Obama's robes?

By GottaLaff

Chess, not checkers. Strong closer. You've heard the various descriptions of how President Obama plays the political game.

And that brings us to the Quote-O'-The-Day:

[T]he president is giving a decent impression of the Dalai Lama on a quiet day. But he's done that before, only to reveal a Ninja under the robes.

--Andrew Sullivan
Let's leave what's under Prez O's robes out of this, mmkay? Mmkay.

Most recent Quote-O'The-Day: Palin's Colossal Ignorance edition

By GottaLaff

Relevant segment at about 4:35...

Just now on Hardball, Chris Matthews said this while discussing Sarah Palin's Glenn Beck interview:

"America is the book she didn't read".

HuckaQuote-o'-The-Day: Sarah Palin edition

By GottaLaff

Lookee here, a twofer:

"I'm not sure of her future politically, and I'm really not sure of mine either."

-- Mike Huckabee, in an interview with Christianity Today, about Sarah Palin.

Quote of the Day

Ouch. As my grandmother would say, pretty outside is no substitute for pretty inside.

"He's a typical man. I don't care if he's 90 years old, he thought that she is so pretty. He loves a pretty woman."

-- Gigi Graham, quoted by Christianity Today, on her father's meeting with Sarah Palin.

Leave it to the repressed Party of Bizarre References to come up with this one:
Sen. Kit Bond (R-Mo.) on the Senate Republicans' attitude toward the Democrats' healthcare reform bill:
"We're like a mosquito in a nudist colony, we have so many targets to attack in this bill we don't know which one to hit."
I do believe he just referred to his own as the party of bloodsuckers. I'm just glad he didn't target specific areas of suckage.

Quote-O'-The Day: Jon Stewart rips Lieberman edition

By GottaLaff

Stewart never disappoints:
You know what is worse than being sick and not having health insurance? Having to sit through the Lieberman filibuster that kept it from you.

Weighty question:
Gail Collins: "Our question for today is whether it's fair for a politician to point out that his opponent is fat."
Answer: Only if that politician wants a fat lip.

Quote-O'-The Day: Nobel Peace Prize v. Shoe-Throwing edition

By GottaLaff

Oh, suh-nap!
"Gives us a sense of momentum when the United States has accolades tossed its way rather than shoes."

-- A State Department spokesman, quoted by CNN, on President Obama's Nobel Peace Prize.

Quote of the Day- Keith Olbermann On Letterman Blackmailer

Ouch.

...when I made my television debut as the New York correspondent for CNN Sports in 1981, Robert J. "Joe" Halderman was the chief assignment editor in the CNN New York bureau. You know when somebody gets arrested for some horrific or moronic crime (like taking a personal check for two million dollars as a blackmail payment), you hear somebody say "that's not the guy I knew"? Not this time. This is exactly the guy we knew at CNN in 1981.

Quote-O'-The Day: Howard Dean Blasts Baucus Bill edition

By GottaLaff

What would we do without Howard Dean's voice of reason?
"The Baucus bill is the worst piece of healthcare legislation I've seen in 30 years. In fact, it's a $60 billion giveaway to the health insurance industry every year. It was written by healthcare lobbyists, so that's not a surprise. It's an outrage."
Oh, I nearly forgot:
