Hawaii lawmakers pass bill to ignore 'birthers'

Can Congress pass the same bill, please? Maybe just an "Ignore Orly Taitz" bill:

Hawaii legislators have passed a measure allowing a state agency to ignore repeated requests from a person or organization for President Barack Obama's birth certificate.

The measure approved Tuesday by the state Legislature would carve an exemption in the state's public records law and allow officials to ignore all kinds of duplicative requests, including those for Obama's birth certificate.

They get between ten and twenty e-mails a week demanding verification of this:

Yes, that would be his birth certificate that has been displayed for all to see for some time now, but apparently it wasn't enough.

Neither was this:

But all that was wasted on the birthers. They go on believing what they want to believe, because Barack Obama has a funny name and a darker skin color. And that's what this is all about.

Hawaii bill would shun Obama birth certificate requests

All manner of birther teeth gnashing to commence- 3... 2... 1!! Let the wailing begin!

HONOLULU -- Hawaii lawmakers are moving closer to passing a measure allowing the state to ignore repeated requests for President Barack Obama's birth certificate.

A conference committee unanimously voted Tuesday to advance the bill to final votes in the House and Senate.

The proposal allows state government agencies not to respond to follow-up requests for information if they determine that the subsequent request is duplicative or substantially similar to a previous request.

The bill is aimed at so-called "birthers," who claim Obama is ineligible to be president. They say he was actually born outside the United States, and therefore doesn't meet a constitutional requirement for being president.

It must be pretty damn bad if they have to pass a law.

Arizona House: Check Obama's Citizenship

By a vote of 31-22, the birther extremists proved once again that they waste everyone's time with frivolous efforts like this one:

The Arizona House on Monday voted for a provision that would require President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate if he hopes to be on the state's ballot when he runs for reelection.

That would be laughable if it weren't so pathetic:

Phoenix Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema said the bill is one of several measures that are making Arizona "the laughing stock of the nation."

Between this birther revival meeting and Arizona's latest endorsement of racial profiling, the state may very well require its own laugh track... because nobody else is so much as smiling.

Racism is just not funny.

Yes, another extremist is running for office, this time for Idaho's 1st district. What a fine American.

They're easy to spot, because they demand President Obama's birth certificate, and what could be more patriotic than that:

The first thing that I’d like to do when elected and on behalf of the ½ million American citizens of my district, I promise to scream like a F-4 Jet fighter at full war emergency after burner take off power and demand he produce his birth certificate. If that doesn’t work, I’ll make louder noises and get a lot more aggressive. In fact this is “DO OR DIE” They will have to kill me to get me to shut up.

If it is proven Obama is not the legitimate president, then everything he has done while in office and all the people he has appointed and everything they have done will be nullified.

This would really dump hot coals into the shorts of those communist liberal progressive politicians.

It would be like Luke Skywalker dropping his bomb into the ventilation shaft of the Death Star in “Star Wars.

How mature.

Then again, birthers are like that.

Or, hey, maybe he's simply pulling an Andy Kaufman on us, because honestly, sometimes it's hard to believe crazies like this are real people.

I guess I had forgotten about it, but apparently it wouldn't let me go. The other day on your show you confronted a birther as to how he could explain a hospital birth announcement for President Obama in Hawaii if he wasn't born there. That would have been fine, but then you blathered on about there had been no newspaper birth announcement for you since apparently your family wasn't affluent or influential enough** to warrant one. Well Chris, that has nothing to do with it.

Checked your Wiki out and you were born in Philly in '45, big city right smack dab in the middle of the Baby Boom. I'm guessing if you had a researcher check into it, you probably did have a birth announcement in the paper (they usually go by hospital), and if not, I'd credit the probable hike in births during that period as to why it wasn't.

In my local Michigan paper when I was born in '61 (same year as the Prez) there was an announcement, and as to influence or affluence, my folks were first year off the boat immigrants. When my brother was born 8 years later, not only did he get a birth announcement, they even tossed in a hospital bassinet picture. (Some areas also showed the pictures of newborns in their local newscasts back in those days.)

Today, on the nearby Elkhart Truth paper website and in their dead tree version, you can see the birth announcements for the past week.

So, you were wrong. Money, affluence or whatever the word you used had nothing to do with it. It's just something some places did, and others didn't.

Oh, and by the way, exactly where did you think this edge of poverty college student interracial couple got this affluence you supposed?

Not Joe the Not Plumber prefers Tea Bagger hypocrisy to John McCain

In a previous post, I had said that Sam the Fake Plumber was campaigning for J Sid McCain. That was wrong.

He likes anti-tax rallies, not McCain. Why, he won't tolerate so much as a penny going toward the evil taxes that pay for things Americans need and use:

PHOENIX - Joe the Plumber [...] led a rally against Proposition 100, the proposed 1-cent sales tax. [...]

"They like to blame somebody else for their shortcomings. They like to say well, we have to raise taxes because we misspent our money here... we can't do it anymore," says Joe the Plumber, whose real name is Samuel Wurzelbacher.

Here's the correction:

Joe the Plumber says he no longer endorses McCain.

What will J Sid ever do without the strong following Sam the Faker has? Oh that's right. He doesn't have one.

Samuel Joe Wurzelbacher, better known as Joe the Plumber from the 2008 presidential campaign, used part of his speech to criticize the federal government and urge the estimated 150 attendees to get behind "good" candidates in the fall elections. Earlier, he told reporters that he was not being paid for his Arizona appearance and that he was attending the Ax the Tax rally to help educate people about issues.

"I'm here to try to generate excitement and get people involved," Wurzelbacher said.

Same the Faker is there to educate, generate, and involve. How exactly can someone with very little brain, following, or charisma do that again? Anyone?

There is one thing he can do, however... and that is, hop a bus:

He also is participating in the Tea Party Express, a bus tour that kicks off today in Searchlight, Nev., home of Senate Majority Leader , D-Nev. En route to its destination in Washington, D.C., the express will stop Sunday in Phoenix at the state Capitol.

Why, that's today! Why, that's the very event that MSNBC salivated over for hours this morning! Why, Sam the Faker has found a niche! Er, another niche. He's extremely niche-riche.

However there is one niche he's no fan of at all. Not Joe the Not Plumber back in February:

"I think his [Obama's] ideology is un-American, but he's one of the more honest politicians. At least he told us what he wanted to do." And Wurzelbacher also had common-sense views on the crazies who dispute Obama's nationality and compare him to Hitler. "The birthers, the truthers — if people are trying to bunch them [with tea partiers], that would kill us. That just pushes away Democrats and independents who might come out for our cause otherwise."

Nah, what's going to "kill" you are the extreme Tea Baggeritude, lack of focus on real issues, infighting, competition with the GOP, racism, irrationality, hostility, mob mentality, costumes, crazy hats, and the sheer group eccentricity.

Come to think of it, Orly Taitz and the birther gang pretty much fit right in.

Scary New GOP Poll: "He may be the Antichrist."

Get a load of this. And it is a load:

To anyone who thinks the end of the health-care vote means a return to civility, wake up.

Obama Derangement Syndrome—pathological hatred of the president posing as patriotism—has infected the Republican Party. Here's new data to prove it:

• 67 percent of Republicans (and 40 percent of Americans overall) believe that Obama is a socialist.
• 57 percent of Republicans (32 percent overall) believe that Obama is a Muslim
• 45 percent of Republicans (25 percent overall) agree with the Birthers in their belief that Obama was "not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president"
• 38 percent of Republicans (20 percent overall) say that Obama is "doing many of the things that Hitler did"
• Scariest of all, 24 percent of Republicans (14 percent overall) say that Obama "may be the Antichrist."

And 100% of rational, thinking, reasonable people think these people need to get an education, get acquainted with reality, and get some therapy. And for godsake, stop making inappropriate, offensive Hitler references.

This poll is the latest and most detailed evidence of the extent to which Wingnuts are hijacking our politics. It should be a wakeup call to all Americans and a collective reminder, as we move past health-care reform, that we need to stand up to extremism.

California bar considering disciplinary action against Orly Taitz

Orly Taitz has crossed more lines than a snail on a sidewalk, than a crosswalk guard at an elementary school, than Apolo Ohno winning races at the Olympics.

Yesterday I wrote about how she invaded a woman's privacy by posting her name, address, and phone number online.

Now it seems the California bar is none too thrilled with her:

California bar now considering disciplinary action against birther lawyer Orly Taitz.

Gee, I guess that would kinda put a cramp in her efforts to run for California's Secretary of State:

The Orange County registrar has confirmed that Orly Taitz -- the de facto leader of the "birther" movement trying to prove President Obama wasn't born in the United States -- has qualified to run for secretary of state. And her main opponent is a man who has only ever voted once.

If she can qualify, then so can


Fun fact: Secretaries of state are responsible for elections.

At least Taitzie is an equal opportunity sewer, er, sue-er:

But Obama isn't the only politician Taitz is challenging on the grounds of eligibility. She is using the same tactic against her Republican primary opponent for secretary of state, Damon Dunn. Taitz filed a criminal complaint against Dunn, claiming he is ineligible to run in the GOP primary because he hasn't been registered as a Republican long enough.

And by equal opportunity, I mean racist:

An investigation by Spencer Kornhaber at OC Weekly into her claims concluded they were "false."

Kornhaber can't help but notice that both Obama and Dunn are black. "Orly Taitz seems to have a thing for raising questions about black politicians' eligibility for office," he quips.

She is having one very positive effect:

Hawaii is debating legislation that would allow it to stop responding to requests for Obama's birth certificate. Officials say they still receive 10 to 20 such requests per week.

Maybe we should all send her our thanks.

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is caught on tape discussing his thoughts on how to challenge President Obama's birth certificate in order to strike down federal laws he signs.

Cuccinelli... Cuccinelli... Why does that sound familiar? Oh yeah:

This is the same Ken Cuccinelli who recently came under fire for encouraging Virginia universities to rescind their anti-gay discrimination policies, a move that several groups have condemned as rooted in homophobia and bigotry.

The audio in question was released today by Ben Tribbett, a Virginian political blogger who is often credited with breaking the George Allen “macaca” video. [...]

“I think it shows a shocking lack of judgment for an Attorney General to be having this kind of blunt conversation with a conspiracy theorist,” Tribbett said. “I think his lawsuit against the EPA, his letter on anti-discrimination policies and this audio shows that he is turning the Attorney General’s office into a circus freak show.”

Tribbett said it all, and very well. An Attorney General has no business entertaining birther conspiracies. To do it publicly was also just plain stupid. When are these people going to realize there are inventions called recording devices?

Thankfully.

Birther Email Uses Fake AP Story To Question Obama’s Citizenship

Grasping reality was never the birthers' strong suit:

A phony new email chain letter — one of the antiquated viral sort leftover from the AOL era — is claiming that the case against President Barack Obama’s citizenship has reached the Supreme Court, based on a forged and typo-riddled Associated Press “report.”

If it's anything like this e-mail, then the typos are the norm rather than the exception.

The message claims that college records of Obama’s from Occidental (under the name Barry Soetoro) prove he was receiving aid as a foreign student from Indonesia. But there’s one problem: the “AP” can’t seem to figure out where to put periods, commas or capitalization. Well, maybe there’s more than one problem.

“Justice Antonin Scalia announced that the Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to hear arguments concerning Obama’s legal eligibility to serve as President in a case brought by Leo Donofrio of New Jersey,” the report’s third paragraph begins. Talk about burying the lede. There is also the completely unsubstantiated claim that “Obama has spent upwards of $950,000 in campaign funds in the past year with eleven law firms in 12 states for legal resources to block disclosure of any of his personal records.”

She has shoved a gigantic door wide open, but will the "librul media" walk through it?

Andrew Sullivan says Sarah Palin's comments yesterday on President Obama's citizenship have re-opened the issue of whether she is in fact the mother of her child.

"Palin has never produced Trig's birth certificate or a single piece of objective medical evidence that proves he is indeed her biological son. A child with Down Syndrome must have a pile of such records, tests, assessments and ultrasounds that conclusively prove that he is Sarah's biological son. It seems bizarre to me that neither the public nor the campaign (so far as I can glean) has ever been given one of them."
