Orly Taitz booted from Tax Day Tea Party

By GottaLaff

The Tea Tantrumers have finally had a moment of rationality. Well, that's going a little far. But when they demonstrate enough presence of mind to give Mental Taitz the heave-ho, I feel obligated to credit them... just this once:

Orly Taitz, an Orange County attorney who has gone to court many times to try to disqualify Obama, was invited to speak Thursday at a Tax Day Tea Party rally in Pleasanton, Calif. [...]

Late Tuesday, organizers said that they had rescinded Taitz's invitation after questions were raised about her presence by candidates who had been contacted by The Times.

Cheese 'n crackers, even Evil Sheepherder-slash-Bizarro AdMaster Fiorina shared the Clarity Moment!

Who spiked these people's coffee with good judgment pills?

Bridget Melson, founder and president of the Pleasanton Tea Party, said the organization had been "getting calls from candidates like crazy."

Chuck DeVore and Carly Fiorina said they hadn't realized Mental Taitz was scheduled to speak. That's funny, she was listed as a featured guest on the Pleasanton Tea Party website... yesterday. All they had to do was pop over and take a peek.

I wish I'd taken a screen shot, because her name has since been scrubbed. And it's a good thing. She'd clearly be the last one to be picked for the Pleasanton Tea Tantrumer Sports Team:

"I can say emphatically that the Chuck DeVore campaign and Chuck DeVore himself strongly disapproves of Orly Taitz and the crazy theories she continues to advance," said Josh Trevino, a DeVore spokesman.

Fiorina went so far as to vouch for the legitimacy of the Obama presidency. What next, an endorsement of commie fascist socialist Marxism?

John Dennis, who is running for the Republican nomination to oppose House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in San Francisco:

"The presence of a discredited publicity seeker on the same platform with patriotic Americans distorts the focus of our movement, distracts from our common message and gives ammunition to those who continue to question our legitimacy."

Mmmno, we'd still question your legitimacy, but thanks for confirming Orly's status.

I'm starting to hear strains of "If You Knew Orly Like We Know Orly... Oy, Oy, Oy What a Gal" in my head.

There's more about Dire Taitz here.

California bar considering disciplinary action against Orly Taitz

By GottaLaff

http://freerangetalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/ie2wdh.jpg.gif

Orly Taitz has crossed more lines than a snail on a sidewalk, than a crosswalk guard at an elementary school, than Apolo Ohno winning races at the Olympics.

Yesterday I wrote about how she invaded a woman's privacy by posting her name, address, and phone number online.

Now it seems the California bar is none too thrilled with her:

California bar now considering disciplinary action against birther lawyer Orly Taitz.

Gee, I guess that would kinda put a cramp in her efforts to run for California's Secretary of State:

The Orange County registrar has confirmed that Orly Taitz -- the de facto leader of the "birther" movement trying to prove President Obama wasn't born in the United States -- has qualified to run for secretary of state. And her main opponent is a man who has only ever voted once.

If she can qualify, then so can

Fun fact: Secretaries of state are responsible for elections.

At least Taitzie is an equal opportunity sewer, er, sue-er:

But Obama isn't the only politician Taitz is challenging on the grounds of eligibility. She is using the same tactic against her Republican primary opponent for secretary of state, Damon Dunn. Taitz filed a criminal complaint against Dunn, claiming he is ineligible to run in the GOP primary because he hasn't been registered as a Republican long enough.

And by equal opportunity, I mean racist:

An investigation by Spencer Kornhaber at OC Weekly into her claims concluded they were "false."

Kornhaber can't help but notice that both Obama and Dunn are black. "Orly Taitz seems to have a thing for raising questions about black politicians' eligibility for office," he quips.

She is having one very positive effect:

Hawaii is debating legislation that would allow it to stop responding to requests for Obama's birth certificate. Officials say they still receive 10 to 20 such requests per week.

Maybe we should all send her our thanks.

There's much more over at Raw Story.

Orly Taitz is no longer a laughing matter

By GottaLaff

Wow. Just wow. Orly Tatiz has crossed a big line:

[T]two days ago, her windmill-tilting expedition to prove that our president wasn't really born here led her to go several miles over the line. She posted the name, address and phone number of an innocent woman in Plantation, Florida.

The most benign explanation for this is that Orly is still trolling around for evidence of Social Security fraud by the Obamas. She's posted the names of numerous innocent people who are purportedly aliases for the Obamas.

Information on who to contact about shutting orlytaitzesq.com down here.

I've made jokes about this woman, I've snarked and snickered and posted about her and her failed "birther" attempts. But when she invades the privacy of a fellow citizen, possibly putting an innocent woman's life in danger and setting her up for any number of worrisome intrusions, that is going too far. That is invasive and scary.

Christian Dem in NC is right. This isn't funny any more.

PhotOh! Orly Taitz: Dear UN, protect me from Obama

By GottaLaff

Just when you thought she couldn't get any nuttier, she goes all paranoid on us:

Poor thing! She's been victimized by the President of the United Taitz! Someone get her a body guard! They're out to get her! Call the United Nations!

Mental Taitz has totally lost it.

OH!rly! Will Taitz face perjury charge? Fingers crossed!

By GottaLaff

(a face only a mother could love... on payday)

OH!rly! One of the most Taitzless women in the news makes more news. Via TPM:

Check out these sentences from the lengthy order by Judge David Carter of the U.S. District Court in the Central District of California:

[T]he Court has received several sworn affidavits that Taitz asked potential witnesses that she planned to call before this Court to perjure themselves. This Court is deeply concerned that Taitz may have suborned perjury through witnesses she intended to bring before this Court.
This can't end well. Then again, it didn't begin well.

Judge Dismisses Orly Taitz Birther Suit

By GottaLaff

She is one of the most Taitzless people in Punditiotland, as you can see from our earlier posts. And despite striking out repeatedly, she ignores $20,000 fines and ticks off the judge, over and over again.

This time at bat, she continued to insist that President Obama show documentation to prove he was born in the U.S. Seriously. Still. If he didn't, she wanted the government shut down and an election held.

Planet Orly must be a very special place.

Stee-rike threeeee! (or is it four... or five?)

A U.S. District Court judge has dismissed one of Orly Taitz's birther lawsuits, saying it would be unconstitutional for the courts to "effectively overthrow a sitting president."

You don't say.

Judge David O. Carter:

"Plaintiffs have attacked the judiciary, including every prior court that has dismissed their claim, as unpatriotic and even treasonous for refusing to grant their requests and for adhering to the terms of the Constitution which set forth its jurisdiction," Carter wrote. "Respecting the constitutional role and jurisdiction of this Court is not unpatriotic."

Suh-nap!

Orly Taitz Sanctioned for $20,000

By GottaLaff

Ya can't say you werent' warned, Birther Orly. See, when you waste everyone's time and resources, you kinda run into problems like, well, being called "delusional":

Counsel Orly Taitz is hereby ordered to pay $20,000.00 to the United States, through the Middle District of Georgia Clerk’s Office, within thirty days of the date of this Order as a sanction for her misconduct in violation of Rule 11 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

Here are some excerpts from the official document that shows how willful and negligent Mental Taitz was. Oh, and for the record, this judge was appointed by Boy Georgie W:

The Court finds that counsel’s conduct was willful and not merely negligent. It demonstrates bad faith on her part. As an attorney, she is deemed to have known better. She owed a duty to follow the rules and to respect the Court. Counsel’s pattern of conduct conclusively establishes that she did not mistakenly violate a provision of law. She knowingly violated Rule 11. Her response to the Court’s show cause order is breathtaking in its arrogance and borders on delusional. She expresses no contrition or regret regarding her misconduct. To the contrary, she continues her baseless attacks on the Court.

Ouch! Then again, I wonder if any of that will even penetrate Taitzless' thick skull.

Counsel’s frivolous and sanctionable conduct wasted the Defendants’ time and valuable judicial resources that could have been devoted to legitimate cases pending with the Court. [...] The Clerk’s Office was burdened by Ms. Taitz’s inability to follow the Court’s rules regarding pro hac vice admission and the Court’s rules for electronic filing. On five separate occasions in a short period, the Clerk’s Office personnel error-noticed counsel for her failure to follow simple rules. At the hearing, counsel failed to make coherent legal arguments but instead wasted the Court’s time with press conference sound bites and speeches.

I hear the real estate biz is about to pick up. Taitzless should really think about going back to her day job.

Taitz: Judge secretly met with Holder. Lawyer’s motion: Birthers seen as ‘batsh*t crazy’

By GottaLaff

Motion document here (pdf format)
Oh my, Birther Attorney Orly, wasn't Judge Land's threat of a $10,000 fine for frivolous filings enough for you?

Apparently not. Taitz is all wee-wee'd up again. She filed a 24-page demand that the judge recuse himself from the case mentioned below because:
Taitz alleges that Judge Clay Land met with Attorney General Eric Holder, who was allegedly spotted at a small coffee shop across from Land's courtroom in Columbus, Georgia, on the day of a Birther hearing.[...]

Her motion for the judge to recuse himself comes, remember, after Land shot down Taitz and her Army captain client's case alleging Barack Obama is not legitimately president. At that point, despite a warning against more frivolous filings, Taitz challenged the judge's order. And he gave her until last Friday to explain why she shouldn't be fined $10,000.

In the motion, Taitz, among other things:

  • Takes umbrage at judge's use of the term Birther to describe her, noting that it is often coupled with "even more colorful epithets such as 'batshit crazy'"

  • Says Land may be disqualified because he allegedly owns stock in Microsoft and Comcast which are "aligned both politically and economically with a key Defendant in this case" -- "the de facto President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama" (emphasis hers)

  • Says Land cannot be an impartial adjudicator of whether she should be sanctioned by the court because he has "radically PREJUDGED" the facts of the Birthers' case (caps hers)

  • Accuses Land of issuing "blitzkrieg-like rulings"

  • Compares Birther crusade to movement for desegregation, suggesting Land, whom she calls "this distinguished Southern Judge" would have been on the side of Jim Crow:

Surely this distinguished Southern Judge would have jailed Thurgood Marshall in the 1940s and '50s for contempt when the future Supreme Court Justice repeatedly filed cases demanding on constitutional as well as social and psychological grounds the desegregation of primary and secondary public schools against well-established precedents such as Plessy v. Fergusson, 163 U.S. 537 (1896)

Finally, Tatiz asks for more time -- until October 16 --- to respond to his order requiring her to explain why she shouldn't be fined $10,000. As she puts it:

The preparation of the response to this Order to Show Cause is in large part dependent upon whether the chief complaining witness, Judge Clay D. Land himself, will also serve as prosecuting attorney, judge, and jury of his complaint to impose a penalty for the undersigned attorney's alleged misconduct in the amount of $10,000.00
Anyone that has to include that many caps, bolds, and underlines in a legal document should really not be filing any more cases-- or be practicing law for that matter-- especially when they involve a judge who is already becoming just a tad cranky at the mere mention of the name Taitz.

Go back to real estate, Birther Attorney Orly.

Ironic: Orly Taitz, "Birther" is Foreign Born & Raised Makes Lunatic Claim Obama Wasn't Born in US

By GottaLaff

Your Daily Dose of BuzzFlash courtesy of my pal, Mark Karlin:

The Big Corporate Media is giving the "Birthers" a second wind of publicity, when they should have been confined to the loony bin after their first wave of press coverage.

That is in large part due to two realities: 1) The Big Corporate Media that runs television covers the lunatic fringe right as though they have a legitimate role in news, while ignoring meaningful ideas from progressives that stray from the self-defined "center" (which is any idea that won't upset entrenched wealth and power) and ; 2) the media loves, as Chris Hedges calls it in his brilliant new book on the topic, "spectacle." [...]

But one of the biggest ironies in this tragic farce of a television media -- particularly cable -- that diverts attention from real issues with coverage of such a psychotic "movement," is that Orly Taitz is herself not born in the U.S. She was raised in Moldavia, during the Soviet Era, was allowed to emigrate to Israel (where she met her husband), and in turn they moved to the U.S. at a time when the government was allowing former Soviet Jews a large quota to immigrate and proceed on a citizenship track. [...]

Only in America would corporate big media spend such extensive amounts of time covering a foreign-born and raised nutcase challenging the nationality of the president of the United States.

There's much more. Please read the whole thing here.
