Can Congress pass the same bill, please? Maybe just an "Ignore Orly Taitz" bill:
Hawaii legislators have passed a measure allowing a state agency to ignore repeated requests from a person or organization for President Barack Obama's birth certificate.
The measure approved Tuesday by the state Legislature would carve an exemption in the state's public records law and allow officials to ignore all kinds of duplicative requests, including those for Obama's birth certificate.
They get between ten and twenty e-mails a week demanding verification of this:
Yes, that would be his birth certificate that has been displayed for all to see for some time now, but apparently it wasn't enough.
Neither was this:
This photo provided by the Honolulu Advertiser shows Obama's birth announcement, center, in the Aug. 13, 1961 edition of the paper. (AP Photo/The Honolulu Advertiser)
But all that was wasted on the birthers. They go on believing what they want to believe, because Barack Obama has a funny name and a darker skin color. And that's what this is all about.
They're too stupid for their own good. I'm guessing President Obama has held a job and has a passport, so by their own admission he has already presented a birth certificate. Arizona seems extra stupid these days**.
PHOENIX -- Nearly half of the Arizona Legislature wants to force President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate to state officials if he runs for re-election.
A state House committee on Tuesday approved the measure sponsored by 40 of the state's 90 legislators. It would require presidential candidates who want to appear on the ballot in Arizona to submit documents proving they meet the requirements to be president.
All 40 co-sponsors are Republicans, comprising 75 percent of the GOPcaucus. Two of them have since resigned to run for Congress.
The idea was proposed by Skull Valley Republican Rep. Judy Burges. She says if people have to prove their citizenship to apply for a job or get a passport, they should have to prove it to run for president.
BTW, Arizona State University was the school that didn't want to give the President an honorary degree because "his body of work is yet to come".
The Washington Times is a conservative right-wing conservative wingie conservative newspaper owned by Reverend Sun Myung Moon. The image above is full-page anti-Obama birther ad that they ran. See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.... Print no evil. Oops, too late.
How many times can we post about our outrage over this kind of racist, vile schlockaganda?
As noted out by Think Progress, the ad makes little sense, besides being racially charged:
“The Center for American Progress’ Ian Millhiser points out that if this rule were actually applied to the presidency, every foreign nation would have the power to remove the President of the United States simply by granting the president citizenship.” [...]
The “advertorial” was taken out by Charles F. Kerchner, Jr., a plaintiff in a birther lawsuit, “Kerchner et al vs. Obama & Congress et al,” filed against President Obama in New Jersey.
Kerchner’s website, Protect our Liberty, is seeking donations to “remove the usurper.”
James Manning, the "ATLAHWorldwide" African-American minister so beloved by the birthers, has been in the birther movement for a while. [...]
2:28 to 2:40
"If Obama lives, then the constitution, and America dies. Now listen to me very carefully, please hear me, please hear me: If we let Obama live, America dies..."
5:12 to 5:35
"What we need to be focused on, if we allow Obama to live, in his present state as a criminal, then America is torn apart. God knows America is gone. America is gone, if we allow Obama to continue, then the nation is gone, so which, which is it? Obama lives and America dies?
10:08 to 10:43
"Now what's it going to be? What's it going to be? Is it going to be Obama? He will live and ride off into the sunset as America's first African-American....President, which is a lie from the pit of hell. But are you gonna let that lie stand, and then the Constitution and America. I can tell you now. Five months from now America will no longer be. We must take immediate and decisive action now."
When did publicly calling for a president to die become acceptable? Or allowable? I don't recall this being the American Way we all okay'd. UPDATE: And just who is this loon?
He is is chief pastor at the ATLAH World Missionary Church on 123rd Street in New York City.[...]
As a younger man, Manning burglarized homes, mostly on Long Island. He spent about three and a half years in prison in New York and Florida for burglary, robbery, larceny, criminal possession of a weapon, and other charges before his release in 1978. While in prison, he became a devout Christian.[1]
[...] Manning came to public attention in the 2008 presidential election after ATLAH posted several sermons of his that were harshly critical of Democratic candidate Barack Obama on the website YouTube.[8][9] Among other accusations, he called Obama a "good House Negro" in one sermon[10] while in another he referred to Obama as "trash" due to circumstances surrounding his mixed race heritage and accused him of being a "pimp" (pimping "white women and black women") and "long-legged mack daddy," and an "emissary of the devil", citing the viral video "I Got a Crush... on Obama".[11] He stated that Obama "has the cadence of an Islamic person,"[12] and he called Obama's mother "trash" for becoming pregnant by a black man out of wedlock.[13] Manning revisited this latter issue during a press conference at the National Press Club on 8 December 2008: "Generally the most noble of white society choose not to intercourse sexually with African men. So it's usually the trashier ones who make their determinations that they're going to have sex."[14]
Manning defended his sermons in an interview on Fox News, saying that "we also have to talk about his character."[15] He compared TV personality Oprah Winfrey, who supported Obama's campaign, to the Whore of Babylon,[9] the "Queen of the Universe", and an Antichrist.[16]
UPDATE #2: Yes, for those who were asking, I called the Secret Service, per your requests. This time was much different than my previous experience. They sounded suspicious of ME!
At first they didn't understand why I was calling, which was odd after the immediate, positive response I got last time. I explained, and told them I wasn't even sure whether I should be calling, but I'd been asked to by several very concerned citizens.
I was asked why I posted the video. I explained that we at TPC try to expose those who wish harm on the president, and voice our alarm, with the intent of keeping hate speech like this to a minimum.
Then she asked what kind of comments we were getting on the post (she asked for a link to the YouTube and to TPC). She thought it was the comments I was worried about, that it was the comments themselves that were threatening. I responded, no it was the video, the man in the video.
She asked me to quote from it, so I did.
I explained that we are all very pro-Obama here, and that I was worried about the content of the video. That finally made sense to her, and she promised to look into it.
A new birther infomercial running on a CBS affiliate in Texas and elsewhere around the country tells viewers a "got a birth certificate?" bumper sticker can be theirs for the low price of $30.
The 28-minute program -- quite possibly the first ever birthermercial -- features community access production values, heavy use of foreboding strings soundtrack, and standard-issue Birther ideology.
Yes, it's come to this. Time to drag out O Fortuna:
A new Public Policy Polling survey in Arkansas shows that only 45% of voters in the state say they believe President Obama was born in this country, while 31% say they think he was not and 24% are unsure.
So 55% don't know how to read...
...this:
"Arkansas is the first of four states where we've polled the birther issue (Virginia, North Carolina, and Colorado were the others) and found less than half of respondents confident that the President is a natural born citizen. The numbers are particularly dramatic among Republicans with 49% saying Obama was not born here to just 23% who grant that he was."
I would love each and every one of those people to produce their own birth certificates. Then, assuming they could, I would like them all to be challenged and scrutinized for equally stupid reasons, in front of the entire nation, on national television, month after month, and see how they would react.
House Democrats are asking (they should be demanding) civility at town hall meetings. How novel. Rep. Betsy Markey (D-Colo.) is even providing guidelines:
Markey's staff will be handing out a copy of George Washington's “Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior” to everyone at her public events.
I hope she realizes that some of the worst offenders most likely can't read.
“If you're going to have rules of civility, who better to get them from than George Washington?” said Markey spokesman Ben Marter.
Trying to avoid becoming the next deer in the town hall headlights on cable news, some lawmakers have cancelled the gatherings, or opted for the convenience of telephone town halls.
But others are plunging into the fray.
As they should. To back off now, IMHO, looks a little, well, wussy.
“The problem is that they're not answering the questions that people are asking,” said Amy Kremer, national coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots.
I call b.s. on that one, especially when you consider the source. If the speakers could get their voices heard over all the screaming and catcalling, if people wouldn't act like animals, maybe the Democrats would be more inclined to answer a few honest, reality-based questions.
House Democrats traded ideas on how to tame the meetings in a conference-call caucus meeting Wednesday, tossing out suggestions such as inviting Boy Scouts to lead off the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Another way to appeal to the better angels of seething constituents, some said, was to have a minister lead off with a prayer. Several lawmakers have attended prayer vigils hosted by religious groups who support the health care overhaul.
That they even have to consider using Boy Scouts and ministers shows you how completely unhinged the TeaDeathers have become. It's a town hall meeting, a supposed exchange of ideas. Q and A. A communications op. And now they have to resort to Boy Scouts?
Lawmakers like Reps. Tom Perriello (D-Va.) and Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) have held marathon sessions, promising to stay into the night to answer every question. [...]
“The goal of it is that no question is left unanswered,” said Jared Smith, Massa's spokesman. “People remain calm because they know they're going to be heard.”
Unless, of course, having legitimate questions answered isn't their goal at all.
But many are avoiding the classic auditorium-style town hall – which have hosted many of the most raucous exchanges – in favor of smaller events in coffee shops. Markey is among them, though Marter notes that “Congress on your corner” is a regular feature of the congresswoman’s trips home.
Markey, elected last year in a heavily Republican district, will meet with them in groups of 15 to 20 members, which removes much of the incentive for heckling and jeering. Marter said it's about expanding access.
“That way everyone gets to talk to Betsy face to face, and it's not just five people dominating the event,” Marter said.
That sounds reasonable, unless...
But Cleaver found that a coffee shop can quickly overflow. [...] Cleaver extended his session by an hour and was able to talk one-one-one with about 75 people. But about 500 people had attended, so many went away without talking to him. [...]
Those waiting in line to talk to Markey will get a copy of Washington's “Rules of Civility & Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation.” [...]
For example, Washington's first rule is “Every Action done in Company, ought to be with Some Sign of Respect, to those that are Present.”
Markey's update: “Respect one another. Don’t yell at people. Don’t hold a sign in front of someone’s face. You may not agree with what they say, but everybody deserves a right to speak.”
Another rule might be: If you act like a raving lunatic or rabid dog, you will be removed. Yeah, that could work.
A funny thing went down in the presidential race ‘08 The democratic nominee was thought to be so great But our founders made a rule and what they wrote was really clear Only natural-born citizens are eligible...my dear
Obama ,tell us where were you born? ‘Cause the media won’t do their job anymore You’re grandmother in Kenya said you were born on foreign shores So Barry tell us where oh where were you born?
You’d think that Ol’ Barrack would wanna try and nip this in the bud To settle all these lawsuits and wipe away the rumor mud But the one thing that could prove it he won’t let anybody see A bona fide presidential birth certificate mystery

Reid, armed with a patch of Astroturf, slammed Republicans for sponsoring town hall attacks on Democrats and accused the party of waging a barricade on Democratic efforts to pass health care reform legislation.
"I just want to show you what Astroturf really is," Reid said to laughter. "They're taking their cues from talk show hosts, Internet rumor mongers, and insurance rackets."
"I just think, as I've said before, it's not often that you try to blow yourself up, but that's obviously what they're trying to do with all this vexatious stuff they're doing with these meetings, the birthers. It's a party being run by a talk show host," Reid said. [...]
Democrats seemed to be on a roll with their pushback Thursday.
"These guys don't care about you," Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin said of the town hall protesters. "They care about YouTube."
"We can spot a winger," Durbin said.
Now how about doing something effective to stop them. You know what I mean, right? Get all vexatious and stuff.
The Big Corporate Media is giving the "Birthers" a second wind of publicity, when they should have been confined to the loony bin after their first wave of press coverage.
That is in large part due to two realities: 1) The Big Corporate Media that runs television covers the lunatic fringe right as though they have a legitimate role in news, while ignoring meaningful ideas from progressives that stray from the self-defined "center" (which is any idea that won't upset entrenched wealth and power) and ; 2) the media loves, as Chris Hedges calls it in his brilliant new book on the topic, "spectacle." [...]
But one of the biggest ironies in this tragic farce of a television media -- particularly cable -- that diverts attention from real issues with coverage of such a psychotic "movement," is that Orly Taitz is herself not born in the U.S. She was raised in Moldavia, during the Soviet Era, was allowed to emigrate to Israel (where she met her husband), and in turn they moved to the U.S. at a time when the government was allowing former Soviet Jews a large quota to immigrate and proceed on a citizenship track. [...]
Only in America would corporate big media spend such extensive amounts of time covering a foreign-born and raised nutcase challenging the nationality of the president of the United States.
There's much more. Please read the whole thing here.
Hey kids! Tired of all that whining and crying by pesky Rushpublic nutcase loony tune Birthers? Wish you didn't have to repeat the same tired explanations that they're incapable of grasping anyway? Me too!
That's right (Nate), you can just smile knowingly and point at your Super Duper Ultra Special Obama Birther Tee Shirt, then walk away, confidant that you've made your case without having to utter a word.
Remember: Just point at your chest, the shirt does the rest!
I recently found this image of Barack Obama's Indonesian school files on a comment posted by a "Birther" on the Houston Chronicle's website.
The commenter claimed that "Bangsa" means "Citizenship", I cannot confirm or deny that Bangsa does in fact mean Citizenship in Indonesian, however what the "Birthers" have failed to notice is that written on line 2 is the word, HONOLULU, followed by his date of birth.
