MSNBC's Lee Cowan, re: Biden's being a Washington career guy:

"In order to change it, you have to know the intricacy of how it works."

"Not a yes man."

MSNBC/Newsweek's Jonathan Alter:

"The least bad choice." (paraphrase: Nobody out there was "the one")

Chuck Hagel:

"Biden's selection is good news for Obama and America."

Chuck Todd:

"Two things: The top of the ticket is what sells change/not change. The vice president augments... And Biden is "American" enough for [doubters]. But Joe Biden has never been Number Two to anybody.

(paraphrased) Biden is the pick for those who wanted Hillary. That's who they wanted. The professional Clinton folks will rally strongly around this ticket. They put out a very supportive letter..."
