Obama: "I don't do cowering"

By GottaLaff

Last night Keith Olbermann discussed Obama's "I don't do cowering" remark at length. Here's the video.

At one point, Keith asks Jonathan Alter if Obama runs the risk of sounding a little Bushesque. There's a vast difference between saying, "If I am attacked unfairly, I'll come back swinging," and, "I'll assert my points on policy matters clearly" as opposed to, "Bring it on". Obama's fortitude shouldn't be confused with the inflexibility and/or arrogance of the swaggering boob currently throwing his presidential weight around. Confidence is one thing. Hubris is quite another.

To equate Obama's "I don't do cowering" with Bush seemed over the top, or at the very least, a suggestion designed to induce a more provocative conversation. Obama doesn't exactly ignore input from others, and in fact, welcomes it. If anything, he's an equal-opportunity non-cowerer.
