Gov. Brian Schweitzer to "high minded" GOP governors: Back Obama or give up money

Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer tells the Party of No to give up their stim money if they think it's such a bad idea:

As the nation's governors prepare to descend on Washington, D.C., this weekend for the annual meeting of the National Governors Association, Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, the chair of the Democratic Governors Association, has issued a statement on behalf of his fellow Democratic governors calling on all Republican governors to back Barack Obama's economic recovery plan -- or to give up the federal money.

"You can philosophize in D.C. all you want, but we in the states have to get things done," said Schweitzer in a written statement. "A Governor's job is to deliver for people: to create good jobs, to keep criminals in prison, to educate our children, to make sure we have decent roads. This recovery package does that."

"It's a little late for Republican Governors to get high-minded about accepting federal dollars since this recovery legislation is only a small portion of all the federal money states receive," he added.

Thank you, plain-spoken Governor Schweitzer. Someone has to stand up (loudly) to these hypocrites.

President-elect Barack Obama this afternoon strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, saying they show the need for the kind of international cooperation he promised as a candidate. "President-Elect Obama strongly condemns today's terrorist attacks in Mumbai, and his thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the people of India. These coordinated attacks on innocent civilians demonstrate the grave and urgent threat of terrorism. The United States must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world to root out and destroy terrorist networks. We stand with the people of India, whose democracy will prove far more resilient than the hateful ideology that led to these attacks,” said Brooke Anderson, his chief national security spokesperson.

Barack Obama's not even president yet, but that doesn't stop MSNBC's Chris Jansing from wondering out loud if he's got enough experience to handle a crisis. This was followed by a discussion with her guests about whether McCain might have won had the Mumbai terrorist attacks had happened prior to the election.

Maybe she should be questioning how our current president is currently responding, and has failed to respond in the past, as in: to briefings warning him of one very big fat enormous major attack on our own soil on September 11, 2001.

Maybe she should be asking about the root causes of violence like this, and how to prevent future attacks. Maybe she should be trying to instill confidence, or at the very least remain neutral, rather than projecting her own apprehension and apparent biases on to her viewers.

Obama won, Chris. Deal with it. And just by the way, you just proved that it's good judgment, not necessarily experience, that counts.

Palin Heads Back to Campaign Trail

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin "will come to Georgia next week to campaign for incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss on the eve of the runoff election," the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

She is scheduled to appear at four Chambliss rallies.

I hope Palin's staff remembers to check her surroundings before they give her the go-ahead to resume her run-on sentences again.

I was just talking to my dad about the ludicrous media insistence on perpetuating yet another meaningless story. They have nothing else to talk about, so they've crescendoed into some crazed, manufactured frenzy over the plethora of leaks from the formerly disciplined Obama team! Yes, leaks!! And more leaks!!! Leaks, do you hear me, leaks!!

Good god, who's doing the leaking? Hillary? Her team?? The Hill??? Could it be that Obama's gang has lost all control?! He-e-elp! The world is coming to an end! Somebody tell us it's all gonna be okay! Who will finally come forward and-- ?

"No one is frustrated, no one is anguished. Any time you involve large numbers of people in something like this, there's gonna be leaks. And there's a fanaticism almost among the news media to break the big story."

Whew! What a relief. We've avoided Armegeddon. We can all go shopping again (well, except for that whole lousy economy thing).

Couric: You said on whether Sen. Obama is a Marxist, you said "it's a good question to ask." Are you sorry you said that?

Lieberman: That's one of those things I wish I said more clearly. Obviously Barack Obama is not a Marxist.

Gee, thanks, Joe. That's kinda like saying, "For a fat pig, you don't sweat much." Too little, too late. He goes on:

Couric: You said it's a good question to ask.

Lieberman: But then I answered it and said, "no he's not Marxist." I said at the time that he's somewhat to the left of me on some issues.

Couric: What really irritated even enraged some Democrats was your speech at the Republican National Convention.

Lieberman: Yeah.

Couric: Did you understand at the time how nervy that might seem to some Democrats? How inappropriate?

Lieberman: I understood that I was doing something different as an Independent Democrat supporting a Republican candidate. But I did it not only because I felt so strongly on behalf of my friend John McCain, but because there is so much partisanship in our politics today that really stops us from getting things done for the American people. And in a speech that I would guess went 15 or 20 minutes, I spoke three sentences, which I believe were respectful, about Sen. Obama.

If Traitor Joe had been any more "respectful", he could have been sued for slander. Joe's an ass.

And I mean that with all due "respect".
