Obama White House offering podcasts for download

Pretty cool. Yes, I know I'm a geek.
Just a quick update. The White House now offers, count'm, seven podcast feeds. We've just added a feed for First Lady Michelle Obama and Music & the Arts, an exclusive collection of performances at the White House.
If you weren't aware that we even offered podcasts, now you know. So if searching and downloading video and audio every day sounds like too much work, simply subscribe to a feed and sync up your iPod, Zune, or Acme media player. You can have Press Secretary Robert Gibbs' daily press briefings delivered to you automagically** or keep up with the President's agenda with his weekly addresses released every Saturday.
** I am convinced this was done on purpose because it is a really cool new word.

Evening Distraction
Sorry for the abruptness of my commenting today, but my spring sinus problems decided to set in just the left side of my face and I'm miserable. OTOH, I picked this vid because it was used last night on a tv show as an example of a "golden oldie" that would scare modern kids out of the room. My little brother is now officially old. Heh.

Sigh, one of the first record albums I inherited from my sister was the Box Tops one with "The Letter" and "Cry Like a Baby" on it. RIP Alex Chilton.

Washington Post: Democrats retain advantage among big donors even as total fundraising edge slips
Democrats are having a number of serious problems on the fundraising front, from unhappiness among Wall Street financiers to a narrowing gap with Republicans since the 2008 elections. But Democrats can still cling to one thing: They remain the kings of collecting money from big donors. The numbers add context to a debate in fundraising circles over whether wealthy donors might be giving less to the Democratic Party because of disputes over White House policies. A number of organizations, including The Post, have chronicled how Wall Street financiers and other patrons who backed Barack Obama in 2008 are either abandoning Democrats or, at the very least, giving less money than in the past. But the FEC data suggest plenty of wealthy donors continued to support Democrats with their checkbooks, at least through December.

Happy 40th Birthday, Heavy Metal!
Not always my cup of tea, but they def contributed to music.
On Friday the 13th of February, 1970, a band from Birmingham, UK named Black Sabbath released their self titled debut album. It began with a thick and ominous tritone, a pitch-dark riff that reverberated with a wash of shivering fear...and the world of music would never be the same.
Happy 40th, Birthday, Heavy Metal! We raise our horns to the members of Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Blue Cheer, Sir Lord Baltimore, and ahost of others for casting the spell, for turning their backs on flower power, and for plunging into a loud nightmarish curtain of sound. We thank them for turning it up and tuning it down simultaneously, for mesmerizing the misfits and miscreants, weaning them off of their faux hippie teets, and turning them on to the bloody bosoms of the shrouded figures in black that now appeared in their dreams.

Jackson Browne, Republicans settle case
Bummer, they should have paid for the rights to the song since it seems even more appropriate as their party's theme song now.
LOS ANGELES — Sen. John McCain and the Republican Party are apologizing to Jackson Browne for using one of his songs during last year’s presidential campaign.**I seriously doubt this part since they did it over and over again in the last election.
The GOP is also vowing to get artists’ permission before using musicians’ work in future political campaigns**.
The apology and pledge were released today along with an announcement of a settlement with Browne over a federal copyright infringement lawsuit filed last year in Los Angeles. Browne sued McCain and the national and Ohio Republican parties for using part of his song “Running on Empty” to mock Democrat Barack
Obama’s proposed energy policies in a Web ad.
Financial details of the settlement weren’t disclosed.
