If Project 9/12 numbers are bad, it's the Dems' fault

By GottaLaff

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:UpddLuLySWGlKM:http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff54/jana67/9-12mission.jpg

Earlier I posted about the Democrats' apparent concern over the supposed huge, enormous, gigantic turnout for ::drum roll:: Project 9/12 ::ECHO echo echo::

However, ClusterFox says that they're just trying to raise expectations. Those wily libruls, always a step ahead. Yes, folks, it's time to play "Blame the Dems!"

Conservatives have seized on this memo as proof Democrats are playing an expectations game.

It's a plot! It's all a big, scary plot, I tell ya!

They say the House leadership wrote the memo in hopes it would be leaked and inflate expectations for the turnout anticipating that it will fall short.

Ya hear that? If the -Ers fail to show in GINORMOUS numbers, it's all our fault!

"It's an old political tactic to get out in front and make wild projections and when they're not met, claim their opponents don't have the juice," said Pete Sepp, a spokesman for the National Taxpayers Union, one of the organizers of the rally.

Sepp said there's only one reason to float a number that high.

"You set the bar at 2 million and anything under it becomes a failure," he said, adding that any event in D.C. that attracts 50,000 is considered a success...."

Ohhh, now, you wait just a minute there, mister. I know what you're doing, yes I do. You're pulling the ol' switcheroo by lowering expectations, right? Right? Boy howdy, you nearly had me going there for a second.

Sly fox...

"...A crowd of 2 million people, he said, "would exceed our wildest dreams."

Is that what Rushpublics dream about? I'm more into white sandy beaches, hammocks, margaritas, and Anthony Weiner.

Even President Obama didn't attract 2 million people to his inauguration, when estimates ranged from 1.2 million to 1.8 million people.

Hey, wouldn't that be rich? Topping Obama's numbers? Wouldn't that be something?

Not gonna happen. Never ever. Project Exploit9/11 will not, shall not, shan't, can't, won't generate Obama-sized crowds. But posting this clever article on Fox News saying it'll never happen and turning the tables on the Dems is so-o-o GOP.

Those scamps.

But Thornell told FOXNews.com that he was not playing an expectations game and that he simply used the numbers cited by organizers.

"I was using their own words and predictions and estimates," he said, explaining his memo was a compilation of statements from different Tea Party Web sites.

Wait, so it was the TeaCynics who raised expectations after all, huh? Now who do we believe, them or the astroturfers who pay them to show up?

Adam Brandon, a spokesman for FreedomWorks, told Politico he expects the crowd to be in the 20,000-30,000 range.

Infighting is so much fun. Can't wait 'til tomorrow! Get out your tally sheets.

Crowds in Iran, attacks on university students (VIDEO)

By GottaLaff

This is a picture of a massive pro-Mousavi rally yesterday in Esfehan, Iran's third largest city.

Also this video from the Washington Note, via Nico Pitney at Huffington Post:
Along the lines of Iran President Ahmadinejad denying the Holocaust, the Ahmadinejad-appointed president of the University of Tehran stated today that there was no attack on university students and no students killed. Outrageous.
This is not going away.

50,000

By GottaLaff

Phenom:
AT THE STOP OFF IN BALTIMORE, Md. -- It's a safe estimate that about 50,000 or nearly 50,000 people came out at events or along the Obama-Biden train route, according to police and the Obama transition team.

The greatest number comes from the massive event in Baltimore going on currently, with an estimated crowd of 40,000.

-- There were about 250 invited guests in Philadelphia.
-- 7,875 in Wilmington, Del.
-- The first slow roll saw an estimated, but not confirmed because we didn't stop, 1,000 people.
-- And on the second slow roll, also not confirmed, were about 2,000 to 3,000.

You ain't seen nothin' yet. Wait 'til Tuesday.

Quote-O'-The Day: Obama draws huge crowds in Republican states edition

By GottaLaff

"It doesn't matter that it's a Republican state, he can still bring 'em in!"
--Candy Crowley just now on CNN, remarking at the size of the crowd at a packed Obama rally in Virginia.

Black voters, Indian tribes, big crowds for Obama

By GottaLaff

There are so many ways Barack Obama has already changed this country, and all for the better:

  • As the number of black Georgians registered to vote has increased, so have the chances of a Democratic victory in the coming election, Republican and Democratic political observers said Tuesday. [...]

But the state as a whole has grown faster than the number of white registered voters, giving African-Americans the chance to play a larger role in deciding who wins elections in Georgia, something pollster Matt Towery has tried to reflect in his surveys.

Towery, a former Republican state lawmaker who is now CEO of Atlanta-based Insider Advantage, believes black voters will turn out in huge numbers to vote for Obama.[...] He has consistently shown the race between Obama and Republican John McCain to be tighter than other pollsters have found. A poll he released Tuesday had McCain leading by a single percentage point, following a poll last week showing Obama ahead by 1 point.
  • [Indian t]ribes are throwing their financial weight behind his rival, Barack Obama, donating more than $1 million to support the Democratic presidential candidate's campaign. [...] The Indian vote, which has traditionally been overwhelmingly Democratic, could be pivotal in a number of swing states, notably New Mexico. It could also help Sen. Obama pick up a number of traditionally red states, such as Montana. New Mexico and other swing states -- including Nevada, North Carolina, Minnesota and Colorado -- have a higher percentage of Indians than the national average.
  • Barack Obama is enjoying big crowds and a favorable political map, while Mr. McCain faces jittery supporters and poll numbers that piled up like a body count. [...] Poll numbers show Mr. Obama ahead, even in battleground states that President Bush won last time. His crowds are larger, younger and more racially diverse.
He may not win every battleground state, but for someone who hasn't gotten elected yet, he's already made a difference.

ColoradObama: "It rippled with the kind of enthusiasm found at victory rallies."

By GottaLaff

Oh, what the hell... let's revel:
Roaring toward the finish, Barack Obama presided Sunday over two Colorado rallies that together drew about 150,000 people, a startling turnout in a key swing state. [...]

Smelling victory, supporters even lined the steps of the Capitol, which was so far away from the stage that the people there needed binoculars just to hope to see Obama.

The setting, on a sparkling day in this battleground state, said perhaps more than Obama did in his actual speech. It rippled with the kind of enthusiasm found at victory rallies. [...]

Obama even ended his day in Colorado by calling voters directly.

At an unscheduled stop at a campaign office in Brighton, northwest of Denver, Obama sat down and called about a dozen unsuspecting registered voters. He shuffled from one call to the next as thrilled campaign volunteers kept placing calls and handing him cell phones. [...]

He then told volunteers to keep working through Election Day.

"It'd be terrible if we just kind of let it slip away in that last few days," he said.

His opponent, Republican John McCain, is needling Obama for starting his victory lap without having won anything.

Said McCain of the race on Sunday, "I'm going to win it."

Polls put Obama ahead in Colorado with the number of campaign days remaining now down to single digits.

You just keep telling yourself that, Gramm-pa. You'll win it right after you finish making all those personal calls to voters and gather record-breaking crowds.

Did I say 100,000? Make that 175,000 of Obama's closest friends

By GottaLaff

My bad. I hadn't realized he'd invited the "real Virginians" and the "pro-Americans" too:
KANSAS CITY, Missouri (AFP) — Democrat Barack Obama said Saturday the winds of change were blowing across America as he roused monster crowds totalling more than 175,000 in the Republican "red" state of Missouri. [...]

The gigantic attendance numbers were testimony to Obama's oratorical pulling power and boded well for his flipping a state, Missouri, from red to Democratic "blue." [...]

But Obama, 47, reiterated his message of recent days that supporters should not get "cocky."

"Democrats have a way of snatching defeat from the jaws from victory. You can't let up. You can't pay too much attention to the polls. We've got to keep running through that finish line," he said.
Smart as well as big-hearted. Wowzers. All that and 175,000 friends. And he still manages to stay level-headed.

VIDEO-- Frank Luntz: Obama will be next president

By GottaLaff

From last night's Real Time with Bill Maher, we see Republican tool pollster Frank Luntz call it for Obama at about 2:54:

To emphasize the point:

Obama Draws Record Crowd, McCain On Defense

"There was the feel of a political world turned upside down on Saturday as Sen. John McCain found himself defending North Carolina and Virginia, while Sen. Barack Obama was greeted by huge crowds in Missouri, which Republicans had also considered safe just months ago," the New York Times reports.
And:

Research 2000: Obama Holds Small Lead in North Carolina

A new Research 2000 poll in North Carolina shows Sen. Barack Obama edging Sen. John McCain, 46% to 44%.
GObama!
