New "Meet The Press" Moderator To Be Named

The panel of journalist sounds very appealing. Maybe throw in some from some left leaning publications? And whatever they do, please, not Andrea Mitchell.

It appears Dec. 7 may be the day we learn who the new moderator, or moderators, of Meet the Press will be. The LATimes' Matea Gold reports, "According to network sources, that may be Tom Brokaw's last day on the air as interim moderator of the program, a post he assumed after the sudden death of longtime host Tim Russert in June."

Gold writes, "deliberations have been closely guarded by NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker and NBC News President Steve Capus, who have not yet made a decision."

The shortlist continues to include NBC's David Gregory, PBS anchor Gwen Ifill, NBC's chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell and NBC political director Chuck Todd.

It may not be one moderator at all, but a panel of journalists which would return the show to its roots — where politicians and newsmakers come to 'Meet the Press.'

VIDEO-- Gwen Ifill: IWRC* Palin "blew me off"

By GottaLaff

During the vice presidential debate, IWRC* Palin said that she “may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear.” Ahem. Truthfulness vs. truthiness:

In fact, “On at least 10 occasions, Palin gave answers that were nonspecific, completely generic, pivoted away from the question at hand, or simply ignored it.” On NBC’s Meet The Press today, debate moderator Gwen Ifill said that Palin “more than ignored” her questions. “Blew me off i think is the technical term,” said Ifill.

Ifill Book Public Weeks Before McCain Agreed To Have Her Moderate VP Debate

By GottaLaff

Just in case Gramm-pa McCain changes his mind and rejects Ifill after all:

The McCain camp is claiming it didn't know about Gwen Ifill's book prior to agreeing to her as moderator for the VP debate:

I confirmed for us here on GretaWire: the McCain campaign did NOT know about Gwen Ifill's book (I think I told them when I made my efforts - emails about midnight - to find out!) I am stunned....the campaign (actually both) should have been told before the campaign agreed to have her moderate. It simply is not fair - in law, this would create a mistrial.

If that's true, it just shows the McCain campaign's incompetence. The debate moderators were agreed to on August 6. Ifill's book was reported in the Associated Press two weeks earlier:

"We have an awkward history about how to talk about race in the nation and in newsrooms," says Gwen Ifill, senior correspondent for PBS' "The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer" and author of "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama," slated for publication early next year.
Chalk another one up for Gramm-pa's confusion.

Republicans Working The Ref Over Tomorrow's Debate Moderator

Let's see- Michelle Malkin has a spittle covered op ed tooling around in the intertubes, Fox & Friends (always a bastion of "fair and balanced") gets into the game and Drudge has a screaming headline. Par for the course so far.

It turns out that Gwen Ifill, the moderator of Thursday night's vice presidential debate, has a new book coming out on Inauguration Day titled The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.

A promotional video shows Ifill talking about the book's theme.

Expect to hear a lot about this from Republicans in the next 24 hours.

Alot more.
