VIDEO-- Gwen Ifill: IWRC* Palin "blew me off"

By GottaLaff

During the vice presidential debate, IWRC* Palin said that she “may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear.” Ahem. Truthfulness vs. truthiness:

In fact, “On at least 10 occasions, Palin gave answers that were nonspecific, completely generic, pivoted away from the question at hand, or simply ignored it.” On NBC’s Meet The Press today, debate moderator Gwen Ifill said that Palin “more than ignored” her questions. “Blew me off i think is the technical term,” said Ifill.
*"In What Respect, Charlie?"

Once again, are the media actually calling out Republicans? (see http://thepoliticalcarnival.blogspot.com/2008/10/shallow-thoughts-fighting-back-edition.html)

Why didn't Ifill cut Palin off and ask her to answer the question asked?? She was the moderator, she had that perogative. Instead of taking control, she let Palin ramble on about any damn thing she wanted. It was like a parent who fails to control a child in a store.

I think so...I think so...Funny thing is, as with the Primaries, when the Clinton campaign went negative, Obama always walked away a winner. Not sure McCrackhead wants to play this negative.

Palin's party agreed to a moderated debate. With questions from a moderator. She showed complete disdain for the public who wanted answers from the candidates. As well as her disdain for playing by the rules.

I think the rules may have prevented Ifill from asking any followup questions. But we don't know because both campaigns want the agreed upon contract to be kept secret. This is not right. We ought to at least know WHY we are getting useless "debates".

Can someone give me a "fact check" reference to the Obama and Ayers stuff...I just saw one of Gramps talking-loons (Tucker somebody) talking too fast and spitting on MSNBC...wasn't Obama like 8 years old when Ayers was in action? I'm not seeing anything yet on FactCheck.org...

Ayers is a professor at the University of Chicago. He & Obama served together on a non-profit charity board, The Woods Fund of Chicago. (Obama served on the board starting in 2001) Ayers supported Obama's run for the Illinois Senate, making a small donation to that campaign, and, I've heard but haven't confirmed, hosting a small gathering in support of that campaign.
That's pretty much it.

You can be damn sure the McCain camp knew about Ifill's book and choose exactly when to whine about it - right before the debate, thereby very effectively handcuffing her.

The number of times I was annoyed that she didn't adopt Lehrer's more assertive moderating was one too many.
I was very frustrated by that.

But good for her for getting in the "blew me off" line this morning - very satisfying.

Chris...thank you for the information. I did a read on wikipedia about Ayers. First thing to strike me is that there is 16 years differece in age. Ayers DOB (12/26/44) vs. Obama (08/04/61). SO...Obama would have been about 8 - 11 years old when Ayers was involved in some bombings. Also from wikipedia.org, Obama was in Jakarta from 1967 until 1971 when he returned to Hawaii in FIFTH grade! I doubt at that point he was "palling" with Ayers.

The association then is in about 2001 and the board of directors for the Woods Fund of Chicago (about when Obama joined the board?)...and that's it??? THAT is the big association??? HEY GRAMPS and Ms. MOOSE...can you say KEATING FIVE?!

I heard the news report on CNN this morning that a Fact-check was done on the Pathetic-Palin Ayers comment. Cnn said it was FALSE!

She was still spouting it at a CA rally.

On MTP, Bagala states that Palin is making a "strategic mistake." Guilt by associateion can hurt the McCain campaign. (a la Iran Contra Scandal - I think I got this right);

Bagala continued, "Lots of people know McCain better than Palin, and this guilt by association idea can blow up his his face."

In other words, McCain needs to shut Palin up!

Instead, he praises her after the debate with his nasilly, piggly, wiggly twang, "How about that Sarah Palin, "Hng! Hng! Hng!"

How disgusting those two are.
