Congress flies tattered, neglected flags

Hmm, the Washington Times thought enough of this story to give it an EXCLUSIVE headline start. Of course these flags should be replaced asap (and put the blame where it belongs, on maintenance) but I wonder when they'll start reporting on Chuck Norris's new flag project? I emailed the author of this piece, we'll see what she has to say. (PS- check out the comments on what kind of people do this to a flag. Amazingly, breathtakingly obtuse)
...The flags - in various states of disrepair - were captured in photos and videos by The Washington Times as they rippled atop the Rayburn, Cannon and Longworth office buildings where the 435 members of the House of Representatives and their aides go to work each day. Congressional staffers and other passers-by didn't even notice the poor state of the Stars and Stripes until a reporter pointed it out.
"If you are going to fly it, then fly it properly and replace it when it's in the condition [like] the one I'm looking at right now,["] a woman on the Capitol grounds said about a flag over the Rayburn House Office Building.

Chuck Norris calls for special Tea Party desecration of American flags
By GottaLaff
In a column for Townhall.com, action star and conservative activist Chuck Norris calls on tea partiers to stop using the modern American flag as a means of protest against the current administration. And if you insist on using the 50-star flag, well, you can buy a tea-stained one for just $73.50 to show "solidarity with our Founders."What's left of his mind is a terrible thing to waste.
And here's an excerpt from his Townhall.com column:
As 9/12 concluded, we all heard many ways to keep this revolutionary movement going. But I was sitting back thinking there's one way we can take a daily stand and declare that as for me and my house, we will serve God and the republic as the Founders did.Don't tea stain me either, bro!If that describes you, then I suggest you fly some revolutionary flag in lieu of your 50-star flag over the next year. Post the 13-star Betsy Ross flag, Navy Jack or Gadsden flag ("Don't Tread on Me") or any representation that tells the story of Old Glory and makes a stand for our Founders' vision of America.
Of course, patriots know that the 50-star flag truly represents one nation under God and our Founders' republic, but modernists simply don't get it. So what do you say we make a statement by flying a different flag and educate our neighbors when they ask us, "Why are you flying that flag instead of the contemporary Stars and Stripes?" (If you insist on posting a modern USA flag, too, then get one that is tea-stained to show your solidarity with our Founders.)
Know a few other patriots? Then please pass along this vintage-flag-posting encouragement to them, as well, and make our Founders proud. And let's remind the U.S. government, "Don't tread on me!"

GOP forgets flag so they Pledge Allegiance to man in American flag t-shirt.
By GottaLaff
When it comes to the recent overwhelming rush of Rushpublic lunacy, I'm just about out of words, so:
Illinois Republicans are a patriotic bunch. They start their meetings with a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, the nation’s unofficial loyalty oath. [...]
Republican county chairmen (party leaders, not county board leaders) held a meeting and prepared to recite the pledge. Oops. There was no flag in the room for them to face while reciting.
[They called] on a fellow named Gene to come to the rescue. Gene was wearing a shirt decked out in an American flag pattern. He came forward, and the group of assembled Republicans pledged allegiance to his shirt.
You have to wonder how conservatives would have reacted had Democrats done the same thing.
