KristolFail

By GottaLaff

Think Progress has a piece up about a possible neocon resurgence, but this passage stood out like a throbbingly sore thumb:

According to Newsweek, neocons, other Republicans, and even his own late father have criticized him:

“He would rather take an interesting wrong position than a dull correct one,” says a longtime neocon who did not want to be named because the two are friendly. Several people who know Kristol describe his Palin boosterism—his very public campaign to persuade John McCain to put her on the Republican ticket—as a schoolboy-like infatuation, sparked when a Weekly Standard cruise docked in Juneau. [...] “Bill’s a very close friend of mine, but he does an awful lot of things just to get publicity,” says one prominent Republican who also did not want to be named for fear of offending Kristol. [...]

Even his father had his qualms. “My poor son has got it wrong again,” he sometimes lamented to an old family friend.

And again... and again... and again.

Bush Terrorized Us and Al Qaeda Won

By GottaLaff

I have a quick break between San Francisco vacation activities, and ran across this, your Daily Dose of BuzzFlash via my pal Mark Karlin:

When you look back over the 9/11 act of terror that Bush could have likely prevented, but was too lazy to try and prevent after being warned, Al Qaeda beat the Neo-Cons from that point on. [...]

It appears Obama is taking a different path, and that his concern about the nukes in Pakistan falling into terrorist hands is far more on target in regards to our safety, and is a strategic approach to terrorism rather than an end run for oil fields. It's important to also note that by destabilizing Iraq, Bush and Cheney only made the theological extremists in Iran all the stronger.

Let's hope that our primal fear of falling from the sky doesn't overcome our ability to outmaneuver the terrorists.

Becoming terrorized only accomplishes their goals.

Please read the whole thing here. I only gave you a sample.

Neocons take note: Obama has reduced global tensions

By GottaLaff

Watch and learn, neo-con-artists. Oh wait. I forgot. They never learn:
Conservative critics of President Obama's foreign policy initiatives are having a tough week. On Thursday, Obama achieved a signature victory when the U.N. Security Council unanimously approved his resolution aimed at halting nuclear proliferation. His warm reception by the General Assembly [...] stood in sharp contrast to the welcome accorded George W. Bush, whose U.N. speeches were typically met with stony silence. Even the implacably hostile Russians suddenly seem amenable to U.S. desires.

"Fluff and stuff," groused Bush's former ambassador to the U.N., John Bolton, in reference to the nuclear weapons limits. [...]

Yet what neither Bolton nor other neoconservative thinkers have ever understood is that words, resolutions and friendly dialogue have considerable power in themselves.

International tension fuels extremism, oppression, terrorism and war. [...] Under Bush, eight years of unilateral actions, disrespect for international institutions, violations of international law and needless antagonism of countries such as Russia increased tension to nearly unbearable levels, served as a recruiting device for terrorists and produced gridlock at the U.N. that made addressing global problems all but impossible. It also strengthened hostile regimes in Iran, Sudan and Venezuela, among other countries, where leaders needed only to defy the United States to heighten their popularity. The result was a more dangerous world.

No, Obama hasn't produced world peace. But he has palpably reduced global tensions and deprived America's enemies of propaganda points. Isolationists, nationalists and neocons, who tend to do the opposite, should take note.
The Rushpublics, as is obvious by their recycled fear sloganeering, have been reduced to scraping the bottom of the desperation barrel.

A trip down the memory rabbit hole:

John Sidney McNeocon's Friend List

By GottaLaff

Just in case someone still thinks McBushOnSteroids is a "maverick", here's a short list of Friends of Sid's:
  • Randy Scheunemann, McCain's chief foreign policy spokesman, in 2002 founded the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, which agitated for the US invasion that was launched in 2003.
  • Robert Kagan, another McCain advisor, and Scheunemann, head the neoconservative Project for a New American Century, which takes a hawkish line on foreign policy issues.
  • Senator Joe Lieberman, supporter of the Iraq war.
  • Douglas Holtz-Eakin, former Director of the Congressional Budget Office, who takes a stringent view on budgetary matters and is quick to denounce the social programs promised by Democrat Barack Obama.
  • Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett Packard who oversaw the complicated merger with computer maker Compaq, and supports tax cuts.
  • Rudolph Giuliani, promotes "war on terror".
  • Fred Thompson, promotes "war on terror," is committed to naming right-leaning Supreme Court justices to the bench, similar to conservatives John Roberts and Samuel Alito chosen by Bush.
Please feel free to add on to the list. I'm sure Raw Story missed a few.
