VIDEO- Fox Lie: Obama Watched HBO Documentary Instead Of Election Results

By GottaLaff

Yes, they actually labeled it a "News Alert!!!!"

How moronic do you have to be to falsely quote Robert Gibbs, whose every word is transcribed, video'd, recorded, and memorized?

Gibbs never said the president watched the documentary last night. He was asked that question but replied that he didn’t know.

He was asked if the president watched the returns. To that, Gibbs replied that the president was not sitting in front of the TV watching them.

On the topic of the documentary, Gibbs was asked if the president liked it. He replied that Obama had seen it before and did enjoy it.

Of course, that's all it took for the minions to dutifully follow ClusterFox's lead. The lie made its way to right wing sites and it's out there now. Retractions and corrections are meaningless once the cycle begins, and Fox and friends know it.

This is just a very short segment, but apparently they taped it to be shown on HBO and the White House site says they will have video up of it in the next few days.

VIDEO: Bishop V. Gene Robinson’s Invocation, which HBO will air

By GottaLaff

There's been an uproar about Bishop Robinson's prayer being omitted from the HBO broadcast yesterday.

Sarah Pulliam of Christianity Today shot a video of Robinson’s invocation:

Leah McElrath Renna reports: "A PIC source reports that some clips from the Lincoln Memorial event, including Bishop Robinson's prayer, will be played on the Mall prior to the swearing in ceremony. In addition, there are reports that HBO will likely include the prayer in its re-broadcast of the event."

Will that be enough? Not likely.

Obama says they'd always intended for HBO to broadcast Robinson

By GottaLaff

Was it one of our commenters who attended the event and said that the audio of gay bishop Gene Robinson's prayer was garbled? So was it, indeed, a tech issue, or as Josh Earnest's message (below) suggests, an "error" by HBO (who blamed Team Obama for the omission)? HBO says it wasn't them:

Contacted Sunday night by AfterElton.com concerning the exclusion of Robinson's prayer, HBO said via email, "The producer of the concert has said that the Presidential Inaugural Committee made the decision to keep the invocation as part of the pre-show."

Uncertain as to whether or not that meant that HBO was contractually prevented from airing the pre-show, we followed up, but none of the spokespeople available Sunday night could answer that question with absolute certainty.

However, it does seem that the network's position is that they had nothing to do with the decision.

Via AMERICAblog:

“We had always intended and planned for Rt. Rev. Robinson’s invocation to be included in the televised portion of yesterday’s program. We regret the error in executing this plan – but are gratified that hundreds of thousands of people who gathered on the mall heard his eloquent prayer for our nation that was a fitting start to our event.” -- PIC communications director Josh Earnest

At least the Obama people think it important enough to weigh in, and that's a good thing.

Amen.

Where Was Rev Gene Robinson Today?

This has me flummoxed. Mind you, I didn't even remember that he was supposed to do the invocation today until I saw his pic over at the Yahoo site when I was poking around for pics. Then I read this-

After days of controversy and outrage from the religious right, openly gay Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson opened Barack Obama's inauguration concert on the National Mall today with a request that the nation pray for "understanding that our president is a human being and not a messiah."

But only the people AT the concert heard that, because HBO did not televise Robinson's message.

HBO? The director George Stevens Jr? Dunno, but you can read the text of Rev Robinson's speech here.
