Obama to head to New York to push new Wall Street regulations

Ruh roh. He's got a big stick and he's dragging the bully pulpit**. Love it when he goes all stern. Via Greg.

On Thursday, President Obama will travel to New York City where he will deliver remarks at Cooper Union on Wall Street reform. Almost two years after the crisis hit and almost one year after the Administration first laid out a detailed plan for holding Wall Street accountable and protecting consumers, he will call for swift Senate action. The crisis has already wiped out trillions of dollars in family wealth and cost over 8 million jobs. The President will also remind Americans what is at stake if we do not move forward with changing the rules of the road as a part of a strong Wall Street reform package.
**Mixed metaphor alert.

Quote-O'-The-Moment: Angry Old McCain edition

By GottaLaff
Remember when President Obama went out of his way to make overtures to Gramm-pa McCain (Super Bowl Sunday comes to mind, as does this)? And remember how Gramm-pa returned the favor? So does Bob Shrum:
"He is bitter and really angry. He is angry at the press, which he thinks is unfair. He is angry at Obama and angry at the voters. He has gone from being an angry old candidate to being an angry old defeated candidate."
--Bob Shrum said of McCain in an interview on Friday

Waiting for that text message?

By GottaLaff

I am weary of the V.P. speculation. I am weary of the whiplashy poll number talk. I am weary of the doomsday-for-Obama talk. It's August. The election is in November. The conventions haven't happened yet. The V.P. choices haven't been announced yet. In politics, situations and numbers do 180s hourly, so can we all take a deep breath now?

Now, because I just got here, and haven't had time to poke around, here's one more annoying V.P. item:
I'd still keep checking your email for the official announcement, but Howard Fineman has this: "One of the contenders also revealed a tidbit about timing. That person says Obama's camp wants to know how to get in touch on Thursday afternoon."
Today is Wednesday. Breathe.

UPDATE: Obama has been using the pronoun "he" when discussing his veep choice.
