Four Senators Renew Push for Public Option

I still get a Chris Matthews style chill up my leg when I hear the words "public option", or see them juxtaposed with "senators push":

"Four Democratic senators, including two facing potentially challenging election campaigns this year, are asking Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to use reconciliation, a procedural maneuver requiring only 51 votes, to push for a public health insurance option," CBS News reports.

Sens. Michael Bennet (D-CO), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) "signed a letter to Reid saying they support this plan for four reasons: the cost savings the public option is estimated to achieve, continued public support for the public option, the need for increased competition in the insurance market and the Senate's history of using the reconciliation process for health care reform."

Of course, first they'll have to wake Reid up from his coma nap. Then they'll have to prop him up in a chair. And finally, if he speaks above a whisper, they may actually be able to hear his response.

After Reid stops apologizing to the GOP, he may muster up enough energy and courage to whimper something supportive into a mic somewhere that he will no doubt retract later.

Then Harry the Leader will see his own shadow and jump back into his hole.
