Multiple post-analities: Poll-itics and more!

By GottaLaff

When I get home too late to catch most of the action, I end up doing multi-all-in-one-posts. Here comes one now!

Obama Uses Google to Combat Smears

Sen. Barack Obama has taken his campaign fight to Google, according to U.S. News and World Report.

"Specifically, Obama's campaign has waded into online auctions for Google search terms to snap up potentially negative phrases like 'Barack Obama birth certificate' or 'Barack Obama as a Muslim.' As of Wednesday morning, Google searches for Obama being a Muslim (a false but pervasive Web rumor) often turn up a prominent 'sponsored' link at the top of the results page that connects to a page on Obama's campaign website that debunks the myth and details his Christian faith. The tech-savvy Obama campaign remains far ahead in the overall Web war. Obama's website also continues to attract twice the number of unique visitors McCain's site does."

So progressive, that Obama. Next:

SurveyUSA: Obama Holds Solid Lead in New Mexico

A new SurveyUSA poll in New Mexico finds Sen. Barack Obama leading Sen. John McCain by 8 points, 52% to 44%.

Key findings: "McCain leads by 11 among whites; Obama leads by 41 among Hispanics. Obama leads by 12 among voters younger than Obama. McCain leads by 10 among voters older than McCain. [Laffy Note: There are voters older than Gramm-pa McCain?] Half of voters say the economy is most important. Among those voters, Obama leads 3:2. Obama leads among the more educated. McCain leads among the less educated. Obama leads among the less affluent. McCain leads among the more affluent."
So, Gramm-pa Sid leads among the dreaded elite? He better sell off 7 or 8 houses if he wants to broaden his appeal. Next:

NYT/CBS Poll: McCain Still Seen as Tied to Bush

"Despite an intense effort to distance himself from the way his party has done business in Washington," Sen. John McCain "is seen by voters as far less likely to bring change to Washington than" Sen. Barack Obama, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll.

The presidential race is roughly where it was before the two conventions and before the vice presidential selections: Obama leads McCain, 48% to 43%.

Other key finding: Gov. Sarah Palin's "selection has, to date, helped Mr. McCain only among Republican base voters; there was no evidence of significantly increased support for him among female voters in general."
Suh-weet.
