*Hottest f***ing president everObama, in that sense, fuses Jack with Bobby — the cool concealing the immense emotional message that he and we know he conveys. It’s hard to think of a comparable figure on the American landscape — of someone so simultaneously hot and cool.
Well, there’s one. A contemporary, and buddy, of Jack’s, who brought a cool, tough exterior, a sense of precision and understatement, to some deeply emotional content. Not a rock star — though he was the daddy of all rock stars.
Sinatra.
No, I’m not saying that Obama is mobbed up or that he drinks with the heavyweights or screws every broad around. Not that Sinatra.
I mean the Sinatra who modulates his way around “One for My Baby” or “Last Night When We Were Young,” who keeps it under wraps until the last eight bars and then lets it go. I mean the Sinatra of “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” who bites off the words joyously, then stands back and lets the band just wail, as Obama, after he delivers the goods, stands back and lets his audience erupt.
I mean the skinny-tie guy, once even skinnier than Obama himself, who was never disheveled, who celebrated the lyrics, who toyed with his crowds, who understood that, in the songs of Porter and Gershwin and Rodgers and Hart, he had works of substance and emotional wallop that he downplayed until, at the climactic moment, he let them explode.
The cool around the hot. The slow-building case and the moral crescendo. The Chairman of the Board and the President-elect. Barack Obama — in the footsteps of Lincoln, King and Sinatra.

Apparently, the Alaska governor is greatly amused by the funny Web sites (with the exception of the X-rated ones) and loves seeing all the Joe the Plumber-type supporters at rallies sporting various versions of ''Sarah Palin is HOT!'' T-shirts.
While the GOP veepster nominee thinks it's all harmless, a source high up in the McCain campaign tells me that's not the case as far as her husband and father are concerned.
Let's recap: IWRC* and her $150,000 ego are eating it up, despite the fact that her "guy" is seeing red. How supportive and wifey of her. Why, the words "diva" and "out for herself" might even cross one's mind.
''Todd [Palin] is increasingly irritated by it all. He's a very possessive guy and totally old-fashioned and traditional when it comes to his relationship with his wife, whom he adores,'' said my source in John McCain-Palin campaign.
Do I sense a spat coming on?
''At a rally in Pennsylvania the other day, he left the stage right before Sarah's speech -- ostensibly to deal with an issue regarding their baby,'' said the source. ''But actually, he was P.O.'ed about a couple of T-shirts and signs he saw in the crowd.''
What, "I want to do your wife" and "Got MILF?" tees don't appeal to him?
Reportedly, Alaska's ''First Dude'' told a campaign aide, ''She's running for vice president of the United States. ... Even though these guys are in our corner, don't they see this belittles her?''
As for Gov. Palin's father, Chuck Heath, his displeasure about the racy T-shirts was nothing compared to his reaction when someone made the mistake of showing Heath one of the sexy videos (featuring a faux Palin) on YouTube.
I'm fairly confident that "Nailin' Palin" isn't something a father would appreciate, no.

“There’s a gigantic difference between John McCain and Barack Obama and between me and I suspect my vice presidential opponent,” Biden said at an outdoor rally Sunday, getting ready to hit the GOP ticket for their economic policies.
“She’s good-looking,” he quipped.
“You are gorgeous!” a female supporter in the audience shouted out. Biden asked her to repeat it into the microphone so his wife at home would hear.
“I haven’t heard that in a long, long, long time,” Biden said as the audience laughed. “Being around this lean young-looking guy is making me feel pretty old, you know what I mean? I thought I was in pretty good shape until I hung out with this guy.”
All together now: We have a hotttt ticket.
At the rooftop rally, both Biden and Obama commented on Palin for the first time without prompting from reporters. Obama joked he’s now considering going to Palin’s home state of Alaska – the only state he says he hasn’t visited – but chose to focus his comments on her position on equal pay for women.
“John McCain’s new VP nominee seems like a very engaging person, a nice person. But I’ve got to say, she’s opposed - like John McCain is - to equal pay for equal work. That doesn’t make much sense to me.”
All together now: Palin is an inferior choice.
All together now: JoeBama! Tsssss. But Obama later made sure his running mate realizes he's good-looking as well.
“You see, she thinks you’re gorgeous too Joe,” said Obama. “Jill goes back home and look what happens!”
“This is worth the run,” responded Biden.
