Andrew Cuomo (D) "is ready to run for governor"

By GottaLaff

My cat could beat Paterson, based on what I've been reading:
The New York Daily News reports Andrew Cuomo (D) "is ready to run for governor" and will take on Gov. David Paterson (D) in the Democratic primary.

Said a source: "He will make an announcement at the end of March. And what he will say is that he intends to run for governor. ... He thinks there are a lot of problems in the state and he thinks he can help solve them."
Meow.
In the latest polls, Cuomo has a 64% job approval rating compared with Paterson's 31%. Cuomo also has $16 million in his war chest, while the governor has just $3 million.
In other news, Vice President Biden's son Beau will not make a run for U.S. Senate.

Jim Cramer Attacks NY Attorney General Cuomo

If there was ever any doubt that Cramer is a total know-nothing buffoon...

A recent New York Times article reviewing the record of New York’s attorney general, Andrew M. Cuomo, recalled that he had warned two years ago of the problems afflicting mortgages. In November 2007, Mr. Cuomo delivered subpoenas to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, and urged those quasipublic agencies to review Washington Mutual appraisals and mortgages that they held in their portfolios.

Mr. Cuomo argued that banks and appraisers had colluded to push prices higher. It is a marker of how swiftly the culture has changed that his charges, which now are received wisdom, struck Mr. Cramer in 2007 as the words of, well a …

“Communist.”

AIG May Face Subpoena From New York’s Cuomo on Retention Payment

By GottaLaff

Cuomo is trying:

American International Group Inc., the New York-based insurer bailed out by taxpayers, may face a subpoena from the state’s attorney general if it doesn’t hand over names of employees receiving retention pay.

Andrew Cuomo requested the data in a letter today and said he’d issue a subpoena if he didn’t get an answer by 4 p.m. New York time.

New Yorkers Approve of Clinton Moving On

Not sure if they think she'll do a great job or just glad to see her go....

A new Marist poll shows 55% of New York voters want President-elect Obama to choose Sen. Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State while just 31% think Clinton should remain in the U.S. Senate and 14% aren't quite sure.

To fill her seat, 43% of voters think Gov. David Paterson** (D) should appoint State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-NY) and Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY) tie for a distant second with 5% each.
**$10 says this is why Paterson just started blogging over at Kos.
