Vice President Biden, Senator Ted Kennedy wind up for baseball honors

By GottaLaff

They asked. They got a yes. What a nice way to start the week:
Vice President Biden will head to Camden Yards in Baltimore on Monday afternoon to throw out the first pitch for the Orioles, the White House announced late Sunday.

In what is sure to be a more emotional visit, sources told local media outlets that Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) would throw out the first pitch before the Boston Red Sox take on the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday afternoon at Fenway Park.

Kennedy's appearance is one of a handful he's made outside the Senate since being diagnosed with a brain tumor last spring. [...]

The vice president will be escorted to the mound by eight kids affiliated with Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI), a Major League Baseball program aimed at building a new fan base in areas where interest in the game has slumped over previous decades. [...]

Biden's and Kennedy's appearances may foreshadow another famous first pitch rumored to be set for next week. President Obama is rumored to throw out the first ball for the Washington Nationals when they hold their home opener next Monday against the reigning world champion Philadelphia Phillies.
