VIDEO: Fox commentator encourages Taliban to kill captive U.S. soldier

By GottaLaff

UPDATE: Mark Karlin at BuzzFlash came up with the perfect caption for this video:

FOX News "Honors" Cronkite with New Slogan: “AND THAT’S THE WAY IT ISN’T – ON EVERY SINGLE DAY WE BROADCAST.”
So, now, didn't John Sidney McCain "collaborate with the enemy" too? That would be the same J Sid who was the revered Rushpublic presidential candidate only months ago? Oh, silly me. That was Sarah Palin. J Sid was just along for the ride:
[O]n "America's News HQ," guest pundit Ralph Peters suggested something to the effect that the Taliban should "save us the headache" and execute captured 23 year-old American soldier Bowe Bergdahl, because "it looks like" Bergdahl deserted his unit. While prefacing his comments by stressing that a military decision should not be made until all of the facts surrounding Bergdahl's capture are determined, Peters then ignored his own advice and encouraged the Taliban to kill this young man. Fox News' Julie Banderas was visibly shocked at the words coming out of Peters' mouth, but did not challenge any of his statements before awkwardly ending the segment.
Oh my stars. Allowing a commentator to talk about our military that way without so much as a peep? A guest wishing harm on one of our soldiers? That's pretty appalling! Really Faux Noise, you can do better than this.

Oh wait. No you can't.

Paddy Added- More of Peters bullshit here , here and here.

The Lt. Col is absolutely right. As a U.S. Army infantry vet I couldn't agree with him more. It may be hard for normal citizens to accept but if he did walk off the base, he alone is responsible for the consequences. If he did walk off the base and allow himself to get captured he not only put his life in danger but the lives of countless other soldiers and Americans in danger. He now has become a political bargaining chip, which could potentially weaken america's political clout. He obviously isn't following the name/rank/SS # directives instilled in all military members, so who knows how much security and methodology info he is relaying to his captures. If he truly did abandon his post I hope we don't see more soldier casualties resulting from a rescue attempt.

I agree too the more dead soldiers the sooner we can get out of the hell hole. I have always been rooting for max American casualties in these ridiculous illegal wars.

Quigbrew, that makes sense. But to say words of encouragement about the Taliban doing what they will with him? That's the point of the story, not whether the soldier was right or wrong to wander off.

The only reason we left Vietnam were 47,410 reasons that were given to us courtesy of the NVA. The body count of the last few weeks has been very encouraging.

What in the hell are we doing in Afghanistan anyhow?

I feel for the families of the soldiers paraded like this on video.

Ezekiel said...

I feel for the families of the sons of Afghanistan who were murdered by this skinhead and his brethren. I hope you also shed tears when the predators miss the intended target. What are we doing over there killing innocents?

GattaLaff, my point is that hard as it to hear, as long as he's alive he's a liability to all the other U.S. troops. The military will be obligated to search for him, at best this will result in a distraction, at worst a potentially deadly altercation. His actions, if true, are unforgivable.

Ezekiel needs pyschiatric help.

Thanks for the referral Kevin. Do you have any idea how many Iraqi and Afghan civilians have been killed because of Bush and Obamas wars of choice. Just because I am an American it does not mean that I need to support or root for American soldiers. Kevin you would have made a fine German circa 1936. Your a true patridiot and I salute you!

quigbrew, so your preference would be to see this soldier's dead body dumped at some US base. If you agree with this Lt Col., then you are both perfect examples why the US military has lost the respect of the world. Fascists like you belong with the Taliban.

If it is true that he deserted then he will definitely get quite a bit of time in the brig when he gets back. Quigbrew obviously comes from a military background and desertion that lands you in the enemies hands has to be mighty frustrating to the special forces who will have to get this guy. Even high profile dissension can land you in hot water. Just ask Pat Tillman. Or not.

Sorta like Geo. Dubya Bush the previous pResident of the Yew Nited States??? Or is that only reserved for the enlisted swine?

I spent 20+ years in the Navy, 5 of those in and around the Nam. Funny I don't seem to hear too many of the Reich Wing clamoring for his sorry ass!!!

Just this old Chief's 2¢

ezekiel, the left suffer from one consistent, apparently genetic intellectual disadvantage; the inability to recognized, understand and consider context.

This results in this sort of contextual misrepresentation--

Fox commentator encourages Taliban to kill captive U.S. soldier

--being made as if representative as the whole of the actuality.

Truly, you just "GottaLaff"

"Do I have any idea how many Iraqi and Afghan civilians have been killed?"

Yes, I do.

Your fatal mistake is assuming that I approve of the Bush regime's war in Iraq. I don't.

"Kevin you would have made a fine German circa 1936. Your a true patridiot and I salute you!"

I'm a Nazi because I don't celebrate the deaths of American soldiers that I would rather not be there in the first place? BRAVO!

Tell me how you are not a Stalinist.

Well in every war since World War 2 save the Bosnian conflict the only way to get Americans to come home is to have soldiers from the opposing army inflict enough troop losses. Korea, Somalia and Vietnam make fine examples of this stark reality. Although we are still kind of in Korea.
When I was 7 my teacher asked the class what do soldiers get Purple Hearts for? And I raised my hand and said murdering others. (While not entirely correct my guess is that close to 100 percent of Purple Heart recipients have killed another if not several human beings somewhere along the line.) So perhaps I have been crazy all my life but I have been consistently crazy. So if you know that way more civilians have been killed then US soldiers at our bidding then how do you suggest that we bring the troops home? Obama is not going to do it. Are you O.K. with the brown people's body count remaining high as long as all of the boys from the "homeland" stay safe? I think you are which is why I said that you would have fit fine living in Duisburg in the 30's. I am going to make a bold prediction that whether Obama serves one or two terms that by the time he leaves Washington civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq will still be dying at the hands of our soldiers paid for by our tax dollars. I am not rooting for the American soldier as though watching a football game one of my best high school friends lost his mind in Iraq. But the reality is we are in both of those countries for resources and not because of the events of 9/11. So at what point, Kevin, do you become a willing American in the Bush/Obama wars? Or is just more convenient to remain silent, blame the current wars on Bush and recommend psychiatric treatment for those with an opposing view a tactic I might close in saying was common in the Third Reich.

What is this site?
Celebrating the deaths of soldiers and wishing for the murder of another by the Taliban. Who are you people?
I don't remember visiting this place before, but I'll never be back.

Ezekiel said...

I know 100,791 documented Iraqi civilian deaths doesn't equal 4,329 American deaths. Those Iraqis are subhuman in your worldview. The world should just reap the our petro fueled war machine so we can keep gas under 3 dollars a gallon. Don't let the door hit you on the way out Anon.

Ezekiel, you are insane. I do not believe any of the people stating they were soldiers or military service members are being truthful. Ezekiel, the war in Afghan and Iraq were Bush war's if you are going to speak get it straight.
Please get counseling.

LankyHank said...

My hopes and prayers go out this soldier and his family.

To suggest a specific human should die to forward a political aim is strange to me no matter what your former occupation was.

I would die for my fellow soldier and they me.

Ezekiel said...

Last time I checked Obama was the Commander In Chief. That is the commander of all US military so this is Bush's war. Somehow I do not get your logic anon.

Ezekiel said...

Your a brainwashed lefty anon. So every thing that is good is Obama and everything that is bad is Bush? Enjoy your koolaid. So it is Bushes don't ask don't tell, Bushes wiretapping, Bushes clear cutting in the Tongass?

Ezekiel said...

Finally I do not need to get counseling to understand that the 100,000 plus Iraqi civilians who are dead because of the Bush/Obama Iraq war are worth more the dead 4,329 American soldiers who lost their live facilitating this slaughter. Anon read over what you wrote and realize that the fundamental American quality is an insane belief that American lives are worth way more then any other lives of any other nationality. The history of America has been one long slaughter of mostyly brown people worldwide from the Indians to the Mexicans to the Vietnamese to the Iraqis and Pakistani villagers of today. At least Obama has the courage to own his wars which unfortunately is something that many of his followers are too slovenly pathetic to own up to.

I am a Vietnam Era vet and my father was a combat wounded vet of WW2. People who think its ok to wish for an American soldier to be killed by the Taliban for any reason are reprehensible, disgusting, ignorant, hateful bastards and I dont give a damn how many wars they served in..Hear me quidbrew??!!

This man is just another ugly face of the Republican hate party. This man has not even had the opportunity to explain what happened to him and Republican Conservative neo-Nazis are assuming his guilt are encouraging the Taliban pass a death sentence on him?
Its the Republican version of supporting the troops . folks, plain for all to see. Republicans and Conservatives are American Taliban only with suits and ties instead of turbans. I am pissed beyond words..can you tell?

Anonymous said...

Wow - you people are vicious. An AMERICAN has been captured over seas PERIOD. I can't believe all you people with your pitch forks out. Rally behind this man in front of the world. Once he's home safe and sound then look at his actions.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Anonymous. Who the heck are all these blood thirsty Americans saying this garbage without even knowing what the heck happened? Maybe they should put their bodies on the line instead of sitting back in thier armchairs advocating the death of an American soldier who has put his life on the line. These must be the same so-called patriots who backed Bush's illegal war. They all have watched too many war movies, drunk too much beer and talk big, their egos all mixed up and making themselves fell so important and big! Goofballs all of them.
