Senator Leahy On Judge Sotomayor - Republicans "were going to object no matter who it was. And several have told me that privately."

Not that we didn't know this already, but it's good to see someone come right out and say it.

MIDDLESEX, Vt.—The chairman of the Senate's upcoming Supreme Court hearings says Republicans told him they would have objected no matter whom President Barack Obama nominated to the high court.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy told The Associated Press on Thursday that, quote, "They were going to object no matter who it was. And several have told me that privately."

Republicans did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Leahy should have called them out by name and had them defend their statements.

Do they even realize how obstructionist they appear to be?

Well, of course they're going to be obstructionist. Why wouldn't they? They don't believe in almost anything Obama believes in. They're from the "opposite" party. And they're probably just a little bitter their man didn't get in.

As the Wall Street Journal put it, "They are trying to use the Sotomayor nomination to make a broader indictment against the Obama administration that they’ve been trying to make this summer." (quoted from http://www.newsy.com/videos/judging_the_judging_of_sotomayor)
