Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will make what her office is only calling an "announcement" at 11 AM local (3 Eastern) from her home in Wasilla.
Speculation is raging both in Alaska and in the Lower 48 that she'll reveal her plans regarding next year's gubernatorial race.

CNN confirming she will not run again for governor in Alaska. No shit, it would interfere with her presidential ambitions, also and such.

WASILLA, Alaska -- Gov. Sarah Palin will resign her office in a few weeks, she said during a news conference at her home Friday morning.
Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the Governor's Picnic at the end of the month.
There was no immediate word as to why she will resign, though speculation has been rampant that the former vice presidential candidate is gearing up for a run at the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

Holy fuckballs! Of course the timing is such that if she did run in 2010 with her continually falling approval ratings, she may lose. How would that play in a presidential nomination run just 2 years later?
And if she did win, she'd be leaving the state in the lurch right after returning to office. The timing is right, but the reasons are suspect.
Had she done any hiking recently on the Appalachian Trail?

She's gearing up, alright, but to defend herself against the number of law suits being filed against her for her performance in office. She's broken a number of laws from what CNN is reporting. D.
Paddy, I have it on good authority, (see below) that ex-Governor-to-be, ex-candidate for the Vice-President gig, future ex-hopeful for the Presidency, (Real x-grade politician that one), (No, THAT that one, not this ThatOne, for Pete's sake. I'm much prettier...), Sarah Palin is thrilled that you finally agree with her so heartily: she has no clue why she resigned either.
But then she's never had much of a clue about anything. Only in the GOP could such a person ever be taken seriously. If she gets to the Primaries, that will over-fill YouTube many times over with bloopers, and, sadly, her vicious, bigoted, self-serving, sickeningly thick, real persona that lays bare for all to get queasy about when the bloopers stop. Dang, I may have revealed what I think of the Wicked Witch of Wasilla. Just a teeny bit?
