I'm liveblogging Face the Nation, with Bob Shieffer, is on now. He's talking to Patrick Leahy, chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Jeff Sessions:
Leahy: I still prefer a truth commission. The inquiry would go into everything, while special prosecutors are narrowly focused. Eric Holder is a superb A.G., but I don't want to see the higher ups break the law, but punishment for the lower level troops. I won't interfere with his decision, but I'd like to see the inquiry, and may have problems doing both... immunity issues.
Sessions: It would be sad to me if the A.G. decided to use a special prosecutor...
Leahy: I admire the CIA agents on the front line, but remember Abu Ghraib. The lower echelon got punished, not those who condoned the actions. If someone higher up broke the law, we need to know.
Shieffer: What about the V.P., allegedly, told the CIA not to tell Congress...
Sessions: Sources, sources... leaks from unnamed sources don't turn out to be what they appear to be. I don't know what the facts are, but Cheney served his country with fidelity... outstanding record.
Leahy: We can't leave it lay. It's either true or not true. Nobody is above the law.

So, saving their own butts, lies and more lies. They are probably taking finderprints off the GTMO cookie jar. Question is, why don't they just be men about this? Oh the web they weave. Someone please take the role of the big spider.
We would not stand for the proposed DOJ commissions to convict without evidence, these detainees. This would take Cheney off the hook, or like the other comment, out of the web. Damn, Gitmogate and Cheneygate are both crimes. Nixon and Liddy got it, time for Bush and Cheney.
The CIA is designed to carry off deception; so when they say they are telling the truth, they are being deceptive. However, if they were to say they lie about everything, then that would be the truth so that too would be deceptive.
Why don't we all just let these super hero's do their deceiving and beating our enemies without question, many third world nations function perfectly with such system's. Now back to Jon and Kate everyone and never mind that someone is watching you; for your safety of course.
"Nobody is above the law." A great quote from my Senior Senator. I do wonder how many years a truth commission will consume? Enough to allow public opinion to lose interest and change? I guess I will ask Pat when he is home and on campaign trail(not like he will need to campaign much here).
The ultimate result would be to end the practices of the Bush policies and return the rule of law that made this Nation great. We continue to hold prisoners in Gitmo on no charges with flawed evidence yet call then the worst of the worst. It is time for the truth to come out- commission or special prosecutors it is time do do something.
Tremendous article on Holder:

He is thinking exactly like we would want our AG to think ... but thanks to Obama's spinelessness, a few people stand in his way: Axelrod and Emanuel!
Resolve the detention issue with real trials, using evidence not obtained by beatings or hearsay. Then let the chips fall where they may. Obama must show some leadership and not be led around with a ring in his nose. That is how I see it.
Thank you for saying that which we are all starting to see. Obama is either being blindsided or trying to make Republicans happy. My support is fleeting.
I really don't think, and I know this isn't popular, that Pres. Obama is spineless, but he has to step back from actually saying he wants prosecutions. He has to do just what he has done and that is leave it to AG Holder.. Look what the polling shows.. and I know you can't depend on the polls..but where is the huge outcry? Where is the huge outrage over torture? There just isn't really that much there. I am angry, no I am PISSED, that there are not enough people who are screaming and yelling that Bush and Cheney's heads aren't on pikes because of what was done. But I am afraid I and others like me are in the minority.
I want them all prosecuted, put in jail, whatever needs to happen, should happen. Send them to GitMo if that's what it takes. Since we can't get the cowardly Congress to help our President close the damn hell hole.
I know, everything is Pres. Obama's fault, but he really is still only one man, and can only do so much, if he starts doing signing statements and executive orders to change things, he really will be just like Bush, and that's not what I voted for.
Annette, each day we have freedom, the detainees are locked up like dogs. Almost 8 years has passed without resolution to this crime of torture ( by holding without charges or due process). I like Obama, just want to see some action by him that restores my faith in democracy. He is just a Man, but a man with a big stick.
