World War Two veteran Jordan McElroy points to his signature in front of a wall dedicated to U.S. President-elect Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) in front of the Lincoln Memorial reflection pool in Washington November 5, 2008. The wall was constructed Wednesday and will stand all week for people to view and write their thoughts to the next president.

Wednesday night, on the Charlie Rose Show, with two people from from Newsweek, Evan Thomas and Jon Meacham,

MEACHAM: He's very elusive, Obama, which is fascinating for a man who's written two memoirs. At Grant Park he walks out with the family, and then they go away.

ROSE: Mmm. Mmm-hmm.

MEACHAM: Biden's back, you know, locked in the bar or something.

ROSE: (haughty chuckle)

MEACHAM: You know, they don't let him out. And have you ever seen a victory speech where there was no one else on stage?

ROSE: Mmm.

MEACHAM: No adoring wife, no cute kid. He is the messenger.

THOMAS: There is a slightly creepy cult of personality about all this. I mean, he's such an admirable --

ROSE: Slightly. Creepy. Cult of personality.

THOMAS: Yes.

ROSE: What's slightly creepy about it?

THOMAS: It -- it -- it just makes me a little uneasy that he's so singular. He's clearly managing his own spectacle. He's a deeply manipulative guy.

(later)

ROSE: Watching him last night in that speech, he finishes --

MEACHAM: Yeah.

ROSE: -- and he sort of -- it's almost like he then ascends to look at the circumstance.

MEACHAM: He watches us watching him.

THOMAS: Watching him!

ROSE: Exactly!

THOMAS: He does --

MEACHAM: It's amazing.

ROSE: It is amazing.

THOMAS: He writes about this metaphor being a screen upon which Americans will project. He said they want of Barack Obama; I'm not sure I am Barack Obama.

ROSE: Mmm.

THOMAS: He has the self-awareness to know that this creature he's designed isn't necessarily a real person, and he's self-aware enough --

ROSE: Ahhhhhh.

I took the survey but (like the last time I took it) was unable to advance beyond page one. Every time I clicked the 'next' button it just reloaded page one....

I had the same problem as Eric - it was the time you guys had computer problems and Paddy you went to the library....?

No clue guys, it worked for me fine when I did it early. No stress, just give it a try later on next time I put it up. I'll email the survey ppl though and let them know.

Is their an effort to capture this temporary wall of comments? I guess photos will have to do ... there are mostly positive notes I'm sure, but there's always a few spoilers.

Oh, I know. I know! Pick me!

I MIGHT know...

It wouldn't advance for me either when I took it a few weeks ago. Then I realized that you had to be zeroes into the fields on the right that ask how much you've spent on line for various items. If you didn't spend any for a category you can't just leave it blank.
Worked for me.
