VIDEO: Hecklers interrupt Obama speech

By GottaLaff

This is the video of what I posted about here:

As the camera panned to the rafters in the thousands-strong crowd at the university, I couldn't make out what the hecklers - mostly young black men - were saying. Among the signs they held, I spotted a few with the phrases "KKK," "Blacks against Obama" and accusations he supports gay marriage (he doesn't).

Clearly fazed by the disturbance, Obama tried to get the crowd to settle down. He also referred to the protesters as "young people."

"It's no problem for you to put your signs up, but let me finish what I have to say," he said.

As security guards made their way to the rafters to escort the men out, Obama said, "Alright guys, see ya."

"Let's get back to work," he said, as the crowd cheered him on. "Settle down everybody, let's get back to work."

I've been to a lot of Obama rallies, and can't remember any kind of heckling to this degree, and watching on TV Obama seems pretty upset.

But he moved on with his remarks on women and the economy.

Many tech issues, now resolved. Merci buckets, Padlock.

I can only imagine how upset he is about people who are so uneducated about what the Republican party stands for...not for them for sure!

I actually thought Obama was quite composed. Annoyed? Sure, but he treated them respectfully, not yelling at them or calling for security to see them out. He took it in stride, as a presidential person should. No panic. I think the idea of Black people using the KKK against another Black person to make their point is beyond amazing... D.

If he can't even control his own rallies how can he ask me to take control of the country!

Ellen said...

Amazing doesn't even begin to descibe it... ever seen the skit Dave Chapelle did when he was a blind black supremacist... mind boggling

He's willing to talk to friends, AND to enemies...without pre-conditions -- he showed that here.

You sort of feel like he thought if they stayed, maybe he could get their vote!

Anon - If I were you I would STFU because your candidate does not even speak for his campaign

Black "kids" holding signs saying the KKK endorses Barack? Wonder how much money they got for that stunt?

Anon... You sure have it in for Obama. Can you at the same time justify McCain who doesn't even know the difference between allies and enemies? Spain, for example. D.

Blade said...

I think it is rather funny. "Blacks Against Barack"? Come on!!!

As for Anon, you have no clue!!

Margali said...

Reminder: Trollkin is just in it for the McPoints.

The disruptors were probably only in it for what they were getting paid too.

And what pathetic fear-mongering. Trying to use KKK and gay marriage as boogeymen? SHEESH!

Ain't nobody voting for Mccain but ain't nobody going to give up our fight just to let somebody who turned his back on us get in the "white" house. Our fight ain't ur fight crackers!

And thank god he got rid of that racist moron Wright. What a LOOOOSER that guy is, and what a LEECH.

GottaLaff said...

Anon conveniently forgets two things:

McCain gets heckled regularly.

I can delete offensive comments.

Name calling is frowned upon, so once again, buh bye now, Anon.

Data Guy, that goes for you too. I don't care whose side anyone's on, let's keep it civil.

Margali said...

"Reverend Wright. Reverend Wright. AWWK!"
"Muslim! Muslim! AWK!"
"Sexist. Sexist. AWWWK!"
Polly want a cracker?

Nonnie Mouse sounds like the punk who always ends up carrying his teeth home in a bag -- if he has the nerve to noise off in public the way he does ANONYMOUSLY.

Wright spoke the truth! Obama sat there 20 years until he wanted to get in the "white" house. Now he acts like he is all KKK or something! He threw Wright out and grabbed white! Might as well be KKK-get it? I doubt it cause U don't know what it is like to be poor and black and neither does Obama! He had good white grandparents. Forget all the single mom on welfare crap. He had money and connections!

chris said...

I'm reminded of the various protesters at the RNC who needed to be "escorted out" during McCain's acceptance speech. McPOW just smiled grimly while the crowd chanted USA. McPOW looked like he didn't have a clue what to do about the protesters - I assume he's used to them by now....

Data Guy said...

Wright is a racist idiot. He waited until Obama was successful, and then he tried, like a vampire, to use Obama's success. What a leech.

Black racists like Wright are no better than white racists.

Those protesters were totally paied off by somebody. As a black woman, I'm really ashamed that they (the repubs and the greedy protesters) would stoop so low to try to bring Obama down. They got their 5 mins on TV and a few bucks in their pocket... The dirty politics were really transparent and it was clear that Obama and his supporters didn't fall for that mess.

Margali said...

'Wright spoke the truth!" Well, Obama does not believe that. Of course, if YOU do, then I suppose your saying that YOU ALSO are guilty of all the "hate America" sins laid at Wright's doorstep. So, just how long have you hated and damned America?

Margali said...

Type in haste, repent at leisure. That should be "you're", not "your". ;)

Hi. I borrowed the video of the hecklers in Coral Gables to add to my post concerning the spectacle this morning. I did credit your blog with the video in my post and added a link back to your site.

I hope you don't mind.

Obama says he does not believe Wright now because he wants to get in the "White" house now. When he disowned Wright he disowned the Black community. That is what has been preached for 40 plus years, that is what Obama was taught 20 + years and that is what is proclaimed every Sunday in Black churches because that is the truth! Disown it to get to the "White" House but Wright is right!

Anonymous, there is a reason you are staying anonymous. You should be ashamed of yourself... and guess what when you reply be sure to reply nigger to me while you are at it. My friend I am black. Your ignorance shines through your actions as well as these comments. You the rev. Wright is not going to vote for Obama? lol Say what you like.. about Obama letting down his people, but what did you do for your people? Object to its first chance at presidency? "speak proudly about you not voting" hahha please. I am sure this wont be your first time missing at the polls. You are ridiculous.. and to me and my black friends. You ARE a disgrace.

Anonymous said...

Maybe you saw a different video than the one you posted.

Obama seems poised and not the least bit distressed.

He didn't even appear annoyed.

It will be interesting to find out who put the black students up to this protest. Or better yet, which Republican paid them.

GottaLaff said...

Blog Queen, our pleasure. And thanks for the link back!

Just to be clear Blacks cannot be racist, he can be prejudice and a bigot but not a racist. Racism is an instutionalize campaign to discriminate against someone based on race. Wright does not have the power to do that. He is just an angry man who cannot let the past go. I 've had uncles who were lynched too but I am over it. Obama is our hope everybodys.

We just can't believe that there are African Americans who disagree with Mr. Obama. That messes up our program. There most be something wrong with all this. Tell me it isn't so! Tell me it isn't so! Tel me it isn't so!

NOTE TO READERS:

By responding to persistent trolls, you are encouraging them and their pathetic ignorance.

No need to answer them.

If they get out of line, I will delete. If they just choose to ooze their simplistically pathetic opinions, let them.

Ok, I am a little dumb on the subject, but what significance does the KKK thing have, and what was the point of the disruption. Just curious.

Molix said...

Margali, the funny thing is, the criticisms are mutually exclusive: Obama is simultaneously too black and not black enough; he's a devoted Muslim, yet fully supports everything said by his crazy Protestant preacher, while also being an atheist who speaks poorly of religious folk; Also, he's a ghetto organizer, while also being a San Francisco Elite pansy and a tough Chicago Pol.

Oh yeah. Not only does he have no plan for the economy, but his plan for the economy is going to involve massive spending for public works and, well, I don't understand it because it's too complex and since I don't understand it, I'll just say he has no plans other than to raise taxes. Taxes on kittens. Yeah, Obama plans a kitten tax. A kitten tax, just like the one instituted by Karl Marx, Hitler and, I don't know, let's say Caligula.

Seriously, do these people even listen to themselves anymore?

This is actually good, because it shows the Republicans' utter failure to define Obama like they did with Gore ("liar") and Kerry ("treasonous flip-flopper"). Those smears worked, because they were consistent, specific, and once the media adopted them, impossible to counter.

If Rove is behind any of this, he's really off his game.

I work in human resources in education our budget was cut and had to make layoffs both in adminstration and teachers. I have co workers scared that they will be next but not only will vote for McSame but will call Obama an idiot. A man with a Harvard degree (he's black and got in with affirmative action). So I can believe anything. And they have the nerve to say they value education. But in the same breath will say hes an elitist. I hire people and at no time to I say you have too much education I need a teacher with less or one who had bad grades. I am floored I thought you were suppose to look at the best and brightest for a job. I am sorry but I want my president to have more education than me. But then again I am in Florida if it was not for the weather.

Margali said...

Right you are, Molix! :)

Not only are the desperate anti-Obama flacks flipping more than the cook at IHOP, but they keep burning their own bacon.

Just wanted to add, I used to post as anon, reading some posts from another anon cured me.

Molix never thought of it in such a complex way yeah Rove is off his game for sure but then if they keep this crap coming it is a distraction from the issues

I find it amazing that as hard as Obama and his camp tries to educate everyone on the ISSUES, we still have people who are just as uninformed about what the real issues are as they have been their entire lives. Again, Obama was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His Mother had to go on welfare for a time just to support he and his sister. He went to college on scholarships and student loans. Where in the world do comments like him not knowing how financially difficult it is for people to live come from? Where have these people been? Further more, I'm not sure why "Anonymous" feels that Obama supports the KKK, but I would like to know who does he think McCain and the Republican Party support? If the KKK will vote for McCain, guess what? He'll support them too. Will you be better off with McCain as President? That's the real issue. Geez!

Anonymous said...

Felicia

His mother got support from her parents and she got a few extra bucks outa the government. Get real! Obama's grandparents took care of him and her after his father abandoned him and never looked back.

Great way to keep your composure future POTUS Obama! You are the change this country needs. You didn't let the paid distactions bother you. I guarantee if they hadn't been paid by Repugs to disrupt you and had the priviledge to stay and actually listen to what you were saying, their eyes would be wide open to what's going on. What an evil ploy by the Republicans who will do anything, say anything and use Anybody to try to win an election and lead our country further down a path of destruction. It's time to "Wake Up America" the time is now, no more games, stop the hating and let's get it right this time so we can ALL prosper.
Barack Obama is the candidate to deliver us from the evil of 8 years of a Repug run White House. Don't vote for someone who looks like you, vote for someone smarter than you who actually inspires people and has a vision for OUR country!
God help Us!

People forget that Obama is Bi-racial, why is it that he has to be identified with either white or black, that is our problems with divisions in the United States of America, we have a difficult time being united. But those days are coming to an end, those who truly want Unity will desire it and make it so, those who do not want Unity and likes the misery of division to their own detriment will also make it so, and if you are the miserable one you will find yourself in the few who likes hatred, Love is how you get out of this downward spiral, you just spin in a little love and it will grow. Well, that is what is happening in 2008 Love is growing and conquering all, It's the truth, trust and passion of a matter that gets us all to Love one another and join in Unity without the prejudices, bigotry and hate, which none are part of Love. THINK ABOUT IT.

Well, I guess we met some of the 10% of blacks who never support the democratic ticket regardless. But for them to accuse a black man of being KKK is just demeaning to them and other blacks everywhere. A real slap in the face. Civil rights leaders everywhere must be outraged and the dead ones like MLK must be rolling in their graves. OUTRAGEOUS! You don't have to support Barack because you are black. But, KKK?!?!?

Anonymous said...

10%? Its more like five. They definetly paid those men that was ridiculous. To me Obama is the very representation of what blacks have been fighting for so many years because he is black. Obama is for EVERYONE not just black people. To separate yourself as if you are the only group that should matter to him is racist. Once we start realizing that we are all part of the human race then we will get along. I'm black and am disgusted by this silly diplay. Too busy trying to tear him down their missing the point.

THE IGNORANT BLACK PEOPLE CAN'T STAND TO SEE SOMEONE OF THEIR COLOR DO WELL. FOR YEARS YOU'VE CLUNG TO YOUR BLACK IDENTITY AND STAYED AWAY FROM "BEING LIKE THE WHITE MAN"- WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? INTELLIGENT, WELL-SPOKEN?
IF HE PANDERED TO THE BLACK RACE LIKE REV. SHARPTON AND JACKSON HE WOULDN'T HAVE MADE IT PAST SOUTH CAROLINA. A SUCCESSFUL BLACK MAN THAT MOVES OUT OF THE HOOD IS CONSIDERED AN UNCLE TOM- WAY TO ENCOURAGE YOUR RACE TO SUCCEED!
OBAMA IS A CANDIDATE FOR EVERYONE. PROGRESIVE BLACK PEOPLE KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THIS PRESIDENCY WOULD BE- THEIR CHILDREN CAN ASPIRE TO BE SOMETHING MORE THAN A BALL PLAYER OR RAPPER...OBAMA IS AN AMAZING ROLE MODEL FOR THEM. JUST BE PROUD THAT A BLACK MAN CAN GET A QUALITY EDUCATION AND BECOME PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES....HATERS!
