McCain To Go Negative in Stretch

The headline and subsequent article just makes me want to laugh. Now they're going to go negative? Now they're going to start getting dirty? Too bad they didn't have any surrogates to get muddy first.

WASHINGTON — The McCain campaign is gearing up to criticize Senator Obama for his past associations with the Reverend Jeremiah Wright and a former Weather Underground operative, William Ayers, in the home stretch of the presidential race.

The McCain campaign, according to one aide, decided it would play the Wright and Ayers cards after Mr. Obama's campaign ran ads linking Senator McCain to a talk radio host, Rush Limbaugh. "Our position is we are no longer going to feel constrained to avoid his very real associations in contrast to the very fictional associations he has imputed to John McCain in this campaign," this aide said.

The Wall Street Journal on September 19 quoted one of Mr. McCain's top aides, Mark Salter, as saying the campaign was "tired of catching spears." He also said, "They played it one way, we played it another way. Now we're both going to play it the same way."

Obama is a smart politician and has had some time to prepare for the Wright/Ayers smears. McSame's attacks will be fierce and dirty character assassination, (i.e. Willie Horton), stoking fear and distrust -- "Obama is too risky and is not one of us".

Let's just hope the economic situation stays the number one story in the media -- not like the lipstick faux outrage which dominated and gave McSame free media for several days. You would think the media would be getting smarter -- will John be successful with these distractions? Every day he controls the media cycle is a day lost for Obama.

It's scary this election may be decided by the media (low information voters).

I am thinking what made the wright thing work for the clintons was

-the media storm which won't happen again because it was over reported.

- people were getting to know him and now they do

honestly think everyone has seen it and made a decision about how they are voting.

Keating Five is much more damaging and topical than the Wright story.

I think so too. Don't forget the alaska scandals

That's precisely what the McCoconut/Paliban crew wish we would forget. Ain't happenin'.

At this point, going more negative, particularly with outright lies a la Limbugger, will reinforce the negative image of their own campaign with anyone but their "base". That base has willingly shelved their morals, scruples and higher brain function for the duration, accepting anything so long as it means (they hope) a win for their side.

McCain has gone negative with his ads since he became the presumptive leader (now nominee) of his party. He's lied. He's deceived. He's twisted facts. He's Mr. Negative. D.

I agree. Do they really want to go there? Let them start the ball rolling. The Wright and Ayers thing has already been there done that. But the Keating Five? Sarah's laying on the hands Kenyan preacher. The secessionist group her husband belonged to. Cindy's drug addiction. Lobbyists for everyone. The McCain temper. Pissed off Alaskans because the McCain campaign is running their state.

Do you guys really think this is going to sway many voters? I think most everyone has made up their minds. All these ads will do is circle the wagons. Maybe I'm wrong.

Hawaii is in "Arab parts of Africa"? Who knew? Or maybe Rush was talking about Wichita.

Obama's father is from Kenya, which, according to the CIA World Factbook:

Ethnic groups: Kikuyu 22%, Luhya 14%, Luo 13%, Kalenjin 12%, Kamba 11%, Kisii 6%, Meru 6%, other African 15%, non-African (Asian, European, and Arab) 1%

Religion: Protestant 45%, Roman Catholic 33%, Muslim 10%, indigenous beliefs 10%, other 2%
note: a large majority of Kenyans are Christian, but estimates for the percentage of the population that adheres to Islam or indigenous beliefs vary widely

Kenya is not an Arabic nation. And Obamas family are from a place called Kisumu which is far on the opposite side of the coastal arabic region (Mombasa). I wish Rush would do some homework before belching out all this silly propaganda. What a moron.

I get sick of hearing this crap. Obama father is a black man from AFRICA no matter what costal region or whatever. And his mother is White from America. When Africans were shipped here as slaves they did not group them into categories of arab and african descent. If your skin color was black you were black. This argument is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Most African Americans in the united states don't know there genetic makeup. We are a mixed people. Rush is such an idiot.

That's just John McCain.
He probably knows a thing or two about catching spears.

He might not have invented fire, but he probably knows the guy who did.
