Que Sera Sarah:
Barack Obama's presidential campaign will open its sixth and seventh offices in Alaska on Monday -- in Sitka and Homer. The campaign has two offices in Anchorage, and offices in Palmer, Fairbanks and Juneau. In response to Gov. Sarah Palin's surprise pick as a Republican vice president nominee, the strategy in Alaska remains "full speed ahead," said Jeff Giertz, Alaska communications director for the Obama campaign. "We're going forward with our program here and our message to reach out to Alaskans on a one-to-one basis."
The campaign has canvassed Alaska neighborhoods for the past few weekends and sent campaign staff to rural Alaska towns, including Barrow and Bethel. "Yesterday, we had an organizing event in Kodiak," Giertz said.
And a comment in response to that article:
That was the only comment; there were none from Palin supporters.Sunday, August 31, 2008 - 7:37am |
We're behind Barack here in Sitka and look forward to a breath of fresh air in D.C. come January with Bush packing his bags and Palin crawling back to Wasilla or Juneau or wherever she calls home.

Palin handing us Alaska would be a dream!
I know it won't happen. Still, makes me smile BIG to think about it.
I do think that between Palin being such a nothing in her state and Obama having teams there could really help some more down ticket Dems. And beat Stevens.
That's good news! Palin is taking credit for the hard work of the legislature, and she has Zero knowledge that pertains to national security or a global economy, and who wants to have her coached by Bush/Cheney/McCain?
I'm an Alaskan, but also an American.
Sarah doesn't call Juneau home despite the fact that it's the state capitol - her offices are in Anchorage and she commutes from Wasilla. She doesn't even care much about Alaskan issues outside of Anchorage and the "Valley" - which is why she's not that popular down here in the Southeast. Canvassing yesterday for Obama here in Sitka we didn't get a lot of people very excited about her being VP.
If she can't even handle the diversity of Alaska - how's she going to understand national (let alone international) issues?
