Tsk tsk. Wonder if they share. Notice the link is to the "Health" section of the website, not the politics section. And FWIW, the headline is from the ABC story, not me. Via.
In a presidential race marked by references to preparedness in the face of the 3 a.m. call, the revelation that presumptive Republican nominee Sen. John McCain has taken the sleeping pill Ambien during his travels raises concerns that the rare side effects of the medication could impair his judgment.
"Taking more than the recommended dosage of Ambien or combining it with other sedative-hypnotics — for example, alcohol — may result in amnesia, fugue states and sleep walking," said Dr. Peter A. Fotinakes, medical director of the St. Joseph Sleep Disorders Center in Orange, Calif. "Used appropriately, Ambien is a relatively safe medication."
From Drugs.com-
Ambien can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. You may still feel sleepy the morning after taking the medication. Until you know how this medication will affect you during waking hours, be careful if you drive, operate machinery, pilot an airplane, or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert**.

My mom used Ambien after my father died and it made her super dopey in the am. Maybe someone should do a trial "3am call" on McDrugged and see if he can even find the fon?
Interesting article written by a fellow POW with McCain titled "Why I Will Not Vote for John McCain"

Money quote: "Folks, quite honestly that is not the finger I want next to that red button."
And this is before McCain was on Ambien.
I use Ambien CR... the time released version. It allows me to sleep at night because I suffer the anxiety of McCain being in the White House -- even as an invited guest. D.
If McCain is sedated as President, depending on his V.P. perhaps we are safer. Maybe we can keep him on Ambien 24/7. The presumptive first lady knows a thing or two about this. Let us ask Cindy. . .
Good idea. Sedate the old man...
We tried that with Reagan and look what happened...
Oh! So that is what has been wrong with him! I had noticed Cindy and others holding him tight at times as if to steady him.He has been high on Ambien!
My name is Carrie James and i would like to show you my personal experience with Ambien.
I have taken for 30 days. I am 23 years old. First I took it to help me fall asleep. After a couple of days I noticed that it made me feel really good, so I would take it just to feel the high that it gave me. I would had no memory of what I did the night before. Every night I did really weird things like send out strange emails, take weird pictures, and I fear that I did things that I still don't know about. I would also hallucinate. I would just spend a lot of time staring at things watching them move, like the wall or notes on sheet music. I was way too distracted to go to bed. It made me tired, but I didn't want to go to bed. I stopped taking it because I don't want to get involved with something like that. I think about it all the time and I have cravings for it, but I just don't think I need anymore problems.
Side Effects :
Hallucinations, feeling of being high, and no memory of things I did the night before.
I hope this information will be useful to others,
Carrie James
