But their 18,000-square-foot Virginia house is nothing compared to Obama's Hawaii, U.S.A. trip to visit his family. What a snob Obama is!A new TV show offers a glimpse into the gilded world of lobbyists:
Yes, some Washington lobbyists have been known for their excesses over the years, but did you know that one even wraps her gifts in money? Lobbyist Edwina Rogers, who is married to Ed Rogers, chairman of lobbying firm BGR Holding, reveals her penchant for using sheets of dollar bills purchased from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing as wrapping paper on a television pilot produced for NBC's Washington station. National Journal obtained a copy of the show Power House, which is expected to air this fall. [Hotline]
[Update: Dover Bitch has screenshots of the money wrapping and more.]
Lobbyist Edwina Rogers is a Republican strategist and a regular guest on FOX News. Her husband, Louis Vuitton lobbyist Ed Rogers, is the "Rogers" in Barbour Griffith and Rogers. Both husband and wife are high-profile McCain surrogates.
By the way, since we're in the middle of a mental recession, it's okay to use disposable money to wrap gifts for your wealthy friends in high places.

That's just disgusting and typically McCain-oriented.
Vive La Revolution!
Parfait, Monsieur Le Buques.
I'm not sure if wrapping presents in actual sheets of money while children starve says more about the moral degradation of today's convervatives or the fiscal degradation that today's conservatives have unleashed on the country.
If he regifts, I want the wrapping, fuck the gift. D.
Ha! David does it again.
BTW, God says that it's okay to hate these people.
Gottalaff--why are you angry at two idiots w/ a loose affiliation w/ McCain yet ignore a Pastor of Obama's who has been friendly w/ him for 20+ years?
Bucky--Che Guevara was a Marxist and was quoted as stating he wanted "many Vietnams"...shows your true reason for voting for Obama
Clancy--Your arrogance to even mention anything God would endorse whether satirical or truthful is pitiful--your hateful emotions block you from ever learning anything of value...truly sad
Anon, I was confused at first by your comment to me. Che?? Huh?? Guevara?? What??
Then I realized that you were conservative and therefore you were completely unaware of anything outside of your own narrow worldview. Once I realized this I understood that you confused my "Vive La Revolution", which is French, and was a phrase used in the French Revolution, with the Spanish "Viva La Revolucion," which was used during the Communist revolutions in Cuba and South America. Notice the not so subtle difference? Two different languages? Imagine that!
Still not quite able to grasp it? Here, let me break it down. Vive, with an "e" at the end, vs. Viva with an "a." And notice the "c" in the Spanish spelling?
Learning about other languages and cultures. What a bitch, huh?
You see, the Americans and the French were actually allies in the overthrow of their respective ruling monarchies all those many years ago. We actually wouldn't have a country if it weren't for the French. I know, it makes your head hurt thinking about that as you eat your fill of "freedom fries" at McDonalds.
I was making a reference to the French Revolution, Anon, where the ruling class became so decadent and detached from the plight of the common man that they were eventually overthrown in a bloody revolution. Bastille Day and all that. "Let them eat cake." I'm guessing you don't read, so maybe you saw that movie about Marie Antoinette from a few years ago? Ring any bells?
History is so hard!
Gain some understanding please since your all knowing arrogance is skewed…while in a different language Che (a more present day figure) said it to invoke emotions of that time which you obviously unknowingly (no doubt until you googled Che) had no clue about….your ignorance is excused….However you comment “we wouldn’t have a country if not for the French” is not excused. You claimed knowledge of this so you should know your statement while accurate is completely out of turn….it was the rich decadent French society that provided funding and arms (and sent the navy to for our revolution not the poor revolutionaries who overthrew said decadence…please check you facts prior to trying to rebuke a statement or everything you say become questionable…You suffer from the same disease that plagues your party now….rather than clear thought and an exchange of ideas you attack and use your anger to push away a different perspective….I followed this thread from Obama’s homepage as I like to look at both sides of the issue. This is the second time I have received anger and bitterness at my statements….yet Conservatives are being vilified as the ones who step on free speech….eerie
Oh and in case you didn’t “grasp” that on your own b/c there was no hate speech in my response…you just learned a bit more about another country.
Anon, do you enjoy this site or do you have another reason for coming here?
I'm not being facetious. These little tirades don't resolve a thing. You won't change minds. We won't change yours.
You are more than welcome to state your views, and I'm flattered that you keep coming back, but I'm a little confused about what you hope to accomplish.
I am no longer certain what a conservative is, other than a bunch of empty mantras.
I did note the current GOP standard bearer's "conservative" mantra to have each of our 50 states independently set CAFE (fuel efficiency) standards and thought, WOW! what a nightmare for automobile manufacturing. Yet, if mantras are what get you through the day, enjoy those mantras.
I never thought I would see the day when conservatives were FOR nation-building (and incompetent nation-building at that);
I never thought I would see the day when conservatives were FOR the biggest expansion of our federal bureaucracy since LBJ;
I never thought I would see the day when conservatives were FOR doubling our national debt in a mere 7 1/2 years;
I never thought I would see the day when conservatives threw Article I in the trashcan and embrace an Imperial Presidency.
Yet, that day is upon us. Most of the so-called conservatives were adamantly FOR all of the above.
Wow.... and then I read that wanting an outside independent ethics committee to review Senate ethics problems was liberal. I was unaware before the National Review called that vote "liberal" that liberals supported real ethics, while so-called conservatives were in adamant opposition.
In the past, I fought this semantic nonsense since no real conservative would throw Article I out the window and embrace an Imperial Presidency. Yet-- so-called conservatives and most of the elected GOP officials did just that.
Now, this erstwhile conservative has had enough of this nonsense. If you want to make good, plain, clear English words mean something else entirely, go ahead.
If believing in our American institutions, our Constitution, our system of checks & balances, fiscal discipline, small and efficient government, a non-imperial practical foreign policy and ethics are now liberal to you, so be it. I am now a liberal.
Welcome to the world of crazy liberals. ; )
Hey Gottalaff no real agenda or hope or means to accomplish any mind change....just caught your link on Obama's website and checked it out as a different POV...figured I'd poke around a bit and i usually don't post, but that article seemd like a reach for a connection..didn't mean to ruffle feathers...Just trying to look for a reason to vote for someone and haven't found it yet.
Much appreciated, Anon.
Gottalaf--
I have no connection to any other anonymous here.
I'm on board with Senator Obama's election. Senator Obama is the only candidate running who has a positive message and vision for our Country's future.
I'm the erstwhile conservative, who is now a liberal thanks to all the semantic nonsense from the GOP.
Thank you for your welcome to the land of crazy liberals.
I have always respected the Democratic Party for its lack of lock-step mentality, even when I disagreed greatly philosophically. The tendency for the GOP to vote and think in lock-step has always troubled me.
As Will Rogers once said: "I don't belong to an organized political party. I am a Democrat."
Glad to join you, especially after the last 7 1/2 years of incompetent, often corrupt, governance by our current President and most of the GOP elected officials.
Ha! Anonymous the New Liberal, GREAT comment.
